Tono mai ki tētahi tūnga ki te Kaunihera o Ōtautahi About the team | Ko te rōpū nei Our Three Waters Unit plays a critical role in developing, managing and maintaining the city's essential water infrastructure. Within this unit, the Project Management
  • Water Supply team is responsible for delivering major capital works that ensure the security, safety and resilience of the city's drinking water supply.
The team is made up of experienced and professional Project Managers who work collaboratively with planners, operators, contractors, consultants and stakeholders across Council. Together, they deliver complex, high-impact water supply projects that directly support the wellbeing of our communities and the long-term sustainability of the city. About the role | Ko te mahi nei As Team Leader Project Management
  • Water Supply, you will lead a team of around 12 Project Managers to deliver a large and complex water supply capital programme, with annual expenditure in excess of $100 million.
The programme includes significant and high-profile projects such as the Lyttelton Harbour water supply security project, Ōkains Bay water supply, water supply asset renewals, and water supply safety improvement programmes. You will be responsible for ensuring a consistent, transparent and professional project management service from initiation through to closure. This includes strong programme governance, effective financial and risk management, and high-quality reporting to sponsors and stakeholders. A key part of the role is people leadership. You will actively develop, support and mentor your team, working closely with other Team Leaders to foster a positive, collaborative and performance-driven culture within the wider Project Management group. About you | Ko Koe Tēnei You're a confident and capable people leader with a proven track record delivering complex capital programmes, ideally within water supply, infrastructure or utilities. You may bring experience from an engineering or construction background—whether consulting or contracting—or from a programme or project management environment where strong commercial judgement and stakeholder leadership are essential. Above all, you're an experienced leader who enjoys developing and motivating others, brings strong commercial and financial management capability, thrives in a collaborative and inclusive environment, and is able to balance strategic oversight with practical delivery, underpinned by professionalism, accountability and a commitment to public service.
