Tono mai ki tētahi tūnga ki te Kaunihera o Ōtautahi About the team | Ko te rōpū nei The multi-disciplinary Climate Hazards Adaptation Planning (CHAP) team is collaborative, innovative, and passionate about preparing Council, communities and rūnanga for the impacts of climate change. The team are responsible for developing and communicating information on multi-hazard climate risk, as well as working with communities and asset owners across Council to develop adaptation plans for communities and public assets at risk of coastal hazards. About the role | Ko te mahi nei This is a unique opportunity to guide the communication of Council's climate and adaptation initiatives, you'll work closely with Council teams, experts, communities, and rūnanga to build trust, raise awareness, and foster meaningful conversations around climate hazards and resilience.
You will:
Translate technical climate science, hazards assessments, risk profiles and adaptation planning processes into clear, accessible and engaging public-facing materials. Develop educational resources tailored to diverse audiences Develop and deliver innovative approaches to engage communities on climate hazards and adaptation. Support citizen science initiatives and interactive tools like the Council's Risk Explorer. Collaborate across Council teams and external stakeholders to ensure consistent, accurate messaging. Champion Council's position on climate change and natural hazards. About you | Ko Koe Tēnei
