Senior Management About the Position We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Project Manager to join our team. Our company specializes in site work and underground utility construction , partnering with general contractors and developers to successfully deliver commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects. The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing projects from contract award through completion, serving as the primary point of contact between our company, general contractors, developers, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and field crews. This is a hands-on position for someone who understands construction, takes ownership of their projects, communicates effectively, and can keep multiple moving parts organized while maintaining schedule, quality, safety, and profitability. Key ResponsibilitiesProject Management Manage site work and underground utility projects from start to finish. Review contracts, plans, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules. Develop project schedules and coordinate work with general contractors, developers, engineers, inspectors, and other trades. Coordinate with field superintendents, foremen, equipment operators, and crews to ensure work is completed efficiently and according to plan. Monitor project progress, productivity, manpower, materials, equipment, and overall performance. Identify potential issues before they become costly problems and develop solutions in a timely manner. Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, schedules, correspondence, RFIs, change orders, and other project records. General Contractor & Client Relations Serve as the primary company contact for assigned general contractors and developers. Attend pre-construction, progress, coordination, and project closeout meetings. Maintain professional relationships with customers and work to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. Communicate project status, schedule updates, potential delays, and cost impacts. Work collaboratively with the GC and project team to resolve field conflicts and scheduling issues. Financial & Contract Management Review project budgets and monitor costs throughout the project. Track labor, equipment, material, subcontractor, and other project costs. Review quantities and production to ensure projects remain profitable. Prepare, document, and negotiate change orders and extra work. Review subcontractor and supplier invoices for accuracy. Assist with monthly billings, pay applications, and project forecasting. Identify scope gaps, potential cost exposures, and opportunities to improve project profitability. Ensure work performed in the field aligns with the contracted scope. Estimating & Pre-Construction Support Assist with estimating and project turnover when needed. Review plans and specifications to understand project scope and requirements. Participate in project handoff meetings between estimating and operations. Help identify constructability concerns, exclusions, and potential conflicts before work begins. Assist in developing project schedules, procurement plans, and manpower/equipment requirements. Field Coordination Work closely with the field team to plan upcoming work and maintain production goals. Coordinate utility installations, excavation, grading, drainage, stormwater, water, sewer, and other site-related activities. Help coordinate inspections, testing, utility company requirements, and permitting requirements. Ensure field crews have the information, materials, equipment, and resources necessary to perform their work. Visit active job sites regularly to monitor progress and address issues. Promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and productivity. Qualifications 3+ years of construction project management experience , preferably in site work, underground utilities, civil construction, or commercial construction. Strong understanding of construction plans, specifications, schedules, and project scopes. Experience working with general contractors, developers, engineers, and inspectors. Understanding of underground utility and site development processes. Strong knowledge of construction sequencing and field operations. Ability to read and interpret civil/site plans and utility drawings. Experience with change orders, project budgets, billing, and cost tracking. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook. Ability and willingness to travel to active job sites as required. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Preferred Qualifications Experience with water, sewer, storm drainage, lift stations, underground utilities, grading, excavation, or roadway/site development. Experience working as a Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager, Superintendent, Foreman, or Estimator in civil/site construction. Experience with construction management or project management software. Familiarity with GPS machine control, surveying, utility locating, and construction technology. Strong understanding of construction contracts and subcontractor agreements. OSHA or other relevant safety training.
