POSITION SUMMARY

The Project Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating large, complex, and long-term customer projects from order award through final delivery. This position serves as the primary point of coordination between Sales, Planning, Purchasing, CAD, Production, Quality, Shipping, and the customer to ensure project requirements are clearly understood and executed. The Project Manager maintains visibility of each project, anticipates potential issues, communicates changes quickly, and helps ensure Steel Plate meets its commitments for quality, schedule, and delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage assigned customer projects from order award through final shipment and completion.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, production releases, and delivery requirements.
• Review project scope, drawings, specifications, quantities, and customer requirements.
• Coordinate material requirements and availability with Purchasing and Planning.
• Work with CAD to manage drawing requirements, revisions, and production readiness.
• Coordinate with Planning & Scheduling to establish priorities and incorporate project work into production schedules.
• Track project progress through burning, grinding, machining, drilling, inspection, and shipping as applicable.
• Maintain visibility of completed work, work in process, upcoming requirements, and remaining project scope.
• Identify material shortages, capacity constraints, production delays, quality issues, or other risks before they impact customer commitments.
• Coordinate customer-specific quality, inspection, traceability, MTR, and documentation requirements.
• Communicate project status, schedule changes, and potential concerns with customers and internal leadership.
• Coordinate partial releases, staged deliveries, special shipping requirements, and final shipments.
• Lead regular project-status meetings for major projects and help resolve issues involving material, drawings, production, quality, or delivery.
• Monitor changes in project scope that may impact cost or schedule and maintain accurate project documentation and status reporting.
• Participate in project closeout and identify opportunities to improve future project execution.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in project management, manufacturing, production planning, or operations preferred.
• Steel processing, fabrication, or heavy manufacturing experience is preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and follow-through skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Comfortable working directly with customers as well as production and operational teams.
• Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications, schedules, and customer requirements is preferred.

EXPERIENCE

• 3-5 years relevant experience

EDUCATION

• 4 Year engineering or project management degree
