The Assistant Project Manager I is an entry-level learner and project support role focused on accurate task execution under close direction from an assigned Project Manager or designated project lead. This role supports project-control workflows by gathering information, performing preliminary checks, observing field activity, and learning required documentation processes while building knowledge of site construction, project management systems, subcontractor coordination, and compliance workflows.Requirements:
Responsibilities of the Assistant Project Manager I Attend turnover meetings with the Project Manager to observe scope review, bid estimate walkthrough, and project handoff processes. Shadow the Project Manager in reviewing plans, specifications, and shop drawings; learn to identify scope and deliverables. Gather project-side information required for buyout package preparation underPM/APM II
direction; administrative processing of approved buyout documents remains with the Project Coordinator. Gather site-specific project details for PUPS requirements and verify completeness with thePM/APM II
before the Project Coordinator processes or tracks required startup documentation. Capture and organize existing site conditions photos and videos into the designated project folder. Support submittal log setup through document gathering, data entry, and status tracking under PM or APM II guidance. Perform preliminary completeness checks on shop drawings and route items to the PM or APM II for technical review. Communicate assigned daily project activities, materials, and resource needs to the Project Manager and office staff underPM/APM II
direction. Assist the Project Manager or APM II by gathering, organizing, and sharing change order support documentation while learning how change order records are maintained. Participate in project site visits with the PM or designated lead to observe field operations, quality standards, and documentation practices. Assist by gathering billing support data for owner/client pay application preparation; subcontractor/vendor Accounts Payable entry remains with the Project Coordinator. Support GPS plan and CAD file distribution as assigned by ensuring current files are provided as directed; report GPS modeling questions or issues to the PM or APM II. Assist with gathering closeout documentation and maintaining checklist drafts under PM or APM II direction. Provide project-specific information to administrative staff supporting permitting, approvals, and regulatory compliance; administrative submission and tracking remain with the Project Coordinator unless otherwise assigned. Education & Experience Required of the Assistant Project Manager I Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field required; experience in a directly related field may be accepted in lieu of formal education. Knowledge of site work construction preferred; prior internship or entry-level construction experience a plus. Ability to learn project management and accounting software such as B2W and ViewPoint required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
