Project Manager Job Description This role leads complex equipment and automation system projects from order release through installation and customer acceptance. The Project Manager plans and oversees schedules, budgets, and resources while coordinating cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, engineered-to-order industrial machinery solutions. This position serves as the primary customer-facing contact, ensuring projects meet technical, quality, and regulatory requirements in a highly organized and collaborative environment. Responsibilities Manage industrial equipment and automation system projects from order release through installation and customer acceptance. Develop, maintain, and track detailed project schedules, budgets, and resource plans to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery. Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, assembly, and quality to align on project goals and timelines. Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, providing regular updates on project status, milestones, risks, and deliverables. Track project risks, changes, and issues, and implement corrective actions to keep projects on schedule and within scope. Oversee and manage change orders, ensuring all scope changes are documented, approved, and integrated into project plans. Ensure project execution complies with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements and internal quality standards. Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), including coordination of testing activities, documentation, and issue resolution. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field. 3-7+ years of project management experience in industrial equipment, machinery, or manufacturing environments. Strong understanding of engineered-to-order systems and production workflows. Experience working with cross-functional technical teams, including engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, assembly, and quality. Proficiency with project management tools such as MS Project, ERP systems, or similar platforms. Additional Skills & Qualifications industrial machinery or automation machinery environments. Hands-on experience with installation and commissioning of industrial or automation equipment. Familiarity with OEM machinery design and documentation requirements. Experience supporting Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and related documentation. Comfort working with detailed paperwork, testing protocols, and quality documentation. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to address technical and project-related issues quickly and effectively. Ability to thrive in a collaborative, small-team environment while working within a larger organizational structure. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Elgin, IL.
