Ludlow Construction is a respected heavy-civil contractor with a proven track record delivering complex road construction, highway improvement, and infrastructure rehabilitation projects across Massachusetts and Connecticut. As we continue to grow our portfolio of public and private contracts, we are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our team and help drive results in the field.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As a Project Manager, you will own the full lifecycle of road construction projects — from preconstruction planning through final acceptance. You will work closely with field superintendents, subcontractors, owners, and municipal agencies to keep scope, schedule, budget, and safety on track. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is equally comfortable in the office and out on site.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

▸ Manage all phases of road construction projects from award through closeout, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.

▸ Develop and maintain detailed project schedules (CPM) and coordinate resources accordingly.

▸ Prepare, track, and manage project budgets, cost reports, and forecasts; identify and resolve variances proactively.

▸ Lead weekly OAC (Owner/Architect/Contractor) meetings and maintain clear, professional communication with DOT agencies, municipalities, and private clients.

▸ Review and negotiate subcontract scopes, purchase orders, and change orders in coordination with the estimating team.

▸ Monitor field operations for quality, productivity, and strict compliance with OSHA safety standards and project specifications.

▸ Manage RFIs, submittals, and document control through the project lifecycle.

▸ Identify, document, and resolve project disputes and claims in a timely manner.

▸ Mentor and guide junior project engineers and field staff.

▸ Coordinate with utility companies, permitting agencies, and regulatory bodies as required.

Required:

▸ 5-10 years of project management experience in road construction, highway improvement, or heavy-civil infrastructure.

▸ Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.

▸ Demonstrated success managing public works contracts (MA DOT).

▸ Solid understanding of DOT specifications, union labor requirements, and prevailing wage regulations.

▸ Strong financial acumen: proven ability to manage project budgets and produce accurate cost-to-complete forecasts.

▸ Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
