Project Manager -
Water & Wastewater Infrastructure Location:
Washington, DC Schedule:
Full-time, on-site (5 days/week)
Compensation:
$130,000-$150,000 (Contract-to-Hire)
Experience Level:
5+ years in construction project management, with strong water/sewer project experience. About the Role This is an opportunity for a seasoned Project Manager to take ownership of complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects ranging from $3M to $10M+. You'll lead project delivery from planning through closeout, working closely with leadership and a dedicated project team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys managing multiple moving parts, and brings deep expertise in water/sewer construction. What You'll Do Manage full project lifecycle for water and wastewater infrastructure projects Oversee budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and project documentation Lead a project team that may include a Project Engineer and Office Engineer Collaborate with a Project Manager for guidance and escalation Utilize HCSS HeavyJob/HeavyBid and advanced Excel skills to track performance Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards Drive profitability and operational excellence across assigned projects Influence team composition and staffing as projects evolve What You Bring Minimum 5 years of construction project management experience Strong experience in water/sewer or water/wastewater infrastructure (non-negotiable) Proven ability to independently manage projects of $3M+ , ideally up to $5M-$10M Proficiency with Excel and familiarity with HCSS HeavyJob/HeavyBid Experience managing subcontractors and field coordination Ability to balance office-based planning with occasional field oversight Civil construction experience is acceptable, but candidates must have substantial water/wastewater exposure Not a fit: candidates coming directly from inspection roles without PM experience Nice-to-Have Skills Subcontractor management expertise Experience mentoring junior engineers Strong spreadsheet and cost-tracking capabilities What's Provided Company vehicle (local use permitted) Company phone, laptop, and iPad Company credit card Health insurance 401(k) with company match Annual performance-based bonus (historically paid out consistently) Why This Role Stands Out This position offers the chance to step into meaningful, high-impact infrastructure work that keeps communities running. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lanham, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $150000.00/hr.
