Job Title:
Assistant Project Manager Job Description Assist the project manager in ensuring all projects are delivered on time according to requirements and without exceeding budget. Help plan construction operations and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines will be met. Work with estimating staff to develop bids, participate in project interviews, work with the client to answer any questions, and follow up on outstanding bids. Responsibilities Assist with a wide range of construction projects as well as multiple projects from start to finish. Attend weekly progress meetings and prepare meeting minutes. Develop a thorough understanding of the details of the project. Communicate effectively with clients and subcontractors. Visit project sites prior to bid submission as needed. Anticipate issues and proactively work to avoid or resolve them. Prepare subcontracts and purchase orders, review for completeness and accuracy. Identify and track long lead time items on the project critical path. Prepare contract change orders for owners and subcontractors as needed. Responsible for file preparation and maintenance. Ensure vendor and subcontractor files are up to date with needed information. Continually seek opportunities to increase client satisfaction and deepen client relationships. Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues. Help maintain the subcontractor and vendor bid list for possible future work. Essential Skills Project management Commercial construction Change order management Project coordination Mechanical knowledge Estimation Project engineering General contractor experience Document control Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required, college degree preferred. Knowledge of construction industry standards, building codes, equipment, methods, and contracts. Demonstrated business expertise with strong presentation, communication (verbal and written), problem-solving, financial knowledge, and leadership skills. Ability to maintain composure, professionalism, and objectivity in difficult situations and effectively resolve conflicts. Computer skills in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software based on project requirements. Knowledge in construction software is a plus. Ability to pass a government check to work on Military Bases and in Government Facilities. Must hold a valid Driver's License. Work Environment The Assistant Project Manager will be based in the Mount Airy, MD office full-time, working closely with the entire Project Management and Executive team. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.50 - $48.07/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
