Job Title:
Assistant Project Manager Job Description The Assistant Project Manager supports the successful delivery of large, high-profile commercial construction projects, including interior-focused contracts for private, federal, and local government clients. This role works closely with the Project Manager, superintendents, and vendors to manage project documentation, coordinate schedules, support financial tracking, and ensure smooth communication across all stakeholders throughout multi-year projects. Responsibilities Assist the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and executing various commercial construction projects, including interior-based contracts up to $1.8M in value. Create, maintain, and manage detailed project documentation, including submittal logs, RFIs, change orders, transmittals, and project directories. Provide comprehensive document and paperwork support to ensure all project records are accurate, current, and properly organized. Manage and track change orders, ensuring timely processing, documentation, and communication to all relevant parties. Coordinate and manage various contracts and vendor relationships, supporting timely delivery of materials and services. Interact regularly with superintendents and field personnel to obtain up-to-date information from the job site and resolve issues promptly. Support project scheduling activities, helping to maintain and update construction schedules using appropriate software tools. Adapt and apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize project and team performance. Assist with project financials as needed, which may include tracking costs, supporting budget updates, and helping prepare financial documentation. Communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal forms with internal teams, clients, and external partners. Handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced project environment. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned to support project and business needs. Take on additional responsibilities as needed based on evolving business and client requirements. Essential Skills Strong experience supporting high-profile customers and complex commercial construction projects. Proven experience with construction project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, and change orders. Solid understanding of project management and construction management principles within commercial construction. Hands-on experience with document management processes and systems in a construction environment. Experience with scheduling and schedule management tools for construction projects. Ability to manage multiple contracts and vendor relationships effectively. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with project teams, field staff, and stakeholders. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and organization. Demonstrated capability to collaborate with superintendents and field personnel to obtain and relay project information. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with project management or construction management software, including schedule management tools. Familiarity with Procore or similar construction project management platforms. experience in project engineering, project coordination, or construction management in a commercial environment. Experience working on large, multi-year commercial construction projects. Ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to improve project performance. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing project documentation and communications. Comfort working with private, federal, and local government clients and understanding their documentation and compliance expectations. Work Environment The Assistant Project Manager works primarily on site in a dynamic commercial construction environment on a multi-year project supported by a large, multidisciplinary team. The role involves regular interaction with field staff, superintendents, and office-based project personnel, using construction management and scheduling software, as well as document management tools such as Procore or similar platforms. The environment is fast-paced and collaborative, with exposure to active construction areas and ongoing coordination among numerous employees and trade partners. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to high-profile projects within a rapidly growing organization, with strong support from an experienced project team. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Upper Marlboro, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $90000.00/yr. 401k match. 80% of employee benefits paid. 25% spouse.
