Job Description
The Onsite Project Manager - Paper Mill Industrial Services is responsible for overseeing daily industrial cleaning, maintenance support, and outage/shutdown activities at assigned paper mill sites. This position provides direct supervision, leadership, safety oversight, and coordination of field personnel while serving as the primary point of contact between the customer and operations team. The Onsite Supervisor ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in compliance with all company, customer, and regulatory requirements. Essential FunctionsLeadership & Supervision Provide daily supervision, direction, and support to Industrial Cleaning Technicians and other site personnel. Coordinate and assign work activities to ensure labor, equipment, and resources are utilized efficiently. Monitor employee performance, productivity, attendance, and adherence to company policies and procedures. Conduct daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs). Train, mentor, and develop field personnel in safe work practices, equipment operation, and customer expectations. Promote a positive safety culture and ensure team members comply with all site requirements. Operations Management Lead industrial cleaning projects at paper mill facilities, including planned maintenance, outages, shutdowns, emergency response activities, and routine cleaning operations. Coordinate project schedules, manpower requirements, equipment needs, and customer requests. Ensure work is completed according to project scope, safety requirements, and quality standards. Oversee high-pressure water blasting, vacuum truck operations, hydro-excavation, confined space entry, tank cleaning, and related industrial services. Monitor job progress and communicate updates to Project Managers, Operations Managers, and customer representatives. Troubleshoot operational issues and implement corrective actions when necessary. Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, site-specific safety programs, environmental regulations, and company policies. Verify all permits, JHAs, confined space entry documentation, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures are completed before work begins. Conduct regular site audits, inspections, and safety observations. Investigate incidents, near misses, property damage, and safety concerns and assist with corrective actions. Ensure all team members maintain required certifications, training, and PPE compliance. Equipment & Asset Management Coordinate the mobilization, operation, maintenance, and demobilization of cleaning equipment. Conduct routine inspections of trucks, trailers, pumps, hoses, vacuum systems, water blasting equipment, and support equipment. Ensure defects are identified, reported, and corrected in a timely manner. Monitor inventory levels for supplies, consumables, PPE, and equipment. Customer Service & Communication Serve as the primary onsite contact for customers and facility personnel. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with mill management, maintenance teams, and contractors. Communicate project status, safety concerns, schedule changes, and operational challenges effectively. Address customer concerns professionally and resolve issues promptly. Administrative Responsibilities Complete and submit daily reports, timesheets, equipment inspections, JHAs, permits, manifests, and other required documentation. Track labor hours, equipment utilization, and project progress. Support billing and project documentation requirements by ensuring accurate record keeping. Additional Duties Assist with emergency response services as required. Support recruiting, onboarding, and training efforts for site personnel. Perform other duties as assigned. Working Conditions Work is performed primarily at paper mills and industrial manufacturing facilities. Frequent exposure to industrial environments, noise, heat, humidity, dust, chemicals, and adverse weather conditions. Must be willing to work in confined spaces, at heights, and around operating industrial equipment. Ability to work rotating schedules, nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and extended outage/shutdown hours. Must be available to respond to emergency service requests when needed. Requires frequent walking, climbing, bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods. Ability to routinely lift and carry 50 pounds or more. QualificationsRequired 3-5 years of industrial cleaning, maintenance, environmental services, or heavy industrial experience. Minimum 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience in an industrial environment. Experience supporting paper mills, manufacturing facilities, refineries, power plants, or similar industrial operations. Valid Driver's License and ability to meet company insurance requirements. Ability to pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, alcohol testing, and background screening. Strong knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and industrial work practices. Ability to read, interpret, and communicate work instructions, permits, and safety documentation. Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Preferred OSHA 40-Hour
