Job Description

Position Summary Flory Line Construction is seeking an experienced Underground Project Manager to lead and oversee underground utility construction projects including electric distribution, fiber, and conduit installations. This role is responsible for managing projects from pre-construction through closeout, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and financial performance are achieved. Key Responsibilities Manage underground utility construction projects including directional boring, open trench, and conduit/cable installation Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and forecasts Coordinate with customers, utilities, subcontractors, and internal teams Ensure compliance with specifications, permits, and safety standards Track production, quantities, and unit-based billing Manage change orders, risks, and cost impacts Oversee material procurement and delivery schedules Support field leadership and conduct site visits Ensure accurate and timely invoicing Maintain strong customer relationships Qualifications 5+ years of project management experience in underground utility construction Strong knowledge of directional drilling, underground electric and/or fiber installation Experience with utility specifications (IOUs, Co-ops, Municipal) Experience with unit-based and/or lump sum contracts Proficiency with project management tools Strong financial and leadership skills Preferred Qualifications Experience with Consumers Energy, DTE, or similar utilities Background in Blue sky operations Knowledge of permitting, traffic control, and restoration Experience managing multiple crews and subcontractors Working Conditions Combination of office and field work. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, construction site hazards, and physical site conditions. Required to wear PPE and adhere to safety protocols.
