Home Repair Assistant Project Manager Full-Time | Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM | Benefits Eligible Saginaw-Shiawassee Habitat for Humanity is seeking a highly organized, compassionate, and motivated Home Repair Assistant Project Manager to join our Home Repair team. This position combines project management, homeowner services, construction coordination, grant compliance, and administrative support to help local families complete critical home repairs that improve the safety, accessibility, energy efficiency, and overall condition of their homes. The Home Repair Assistant Project Manager works directly with homeowners, contractors, community partners, and Habitat staff to move repair projects from application and eligibility determination through assessment, bidding, construction, and project closeout. What You'll Do As a Home Repair Assistant Project Manager, you will help manage a portfolio of approximately 30-50 homeowner projects independently and/or 80-100 projects as part of the Home Repair team , depending on program volume and the time of year.
Key responsibilities include:
Serve as a primary point of contact for homeowners participating in Habitat's Home Repair programs. Coordinate home repair projects from initial application through project completion and closeout. Review applications and documentation to determine program and grant eligibility. Calculate household income and complete required background checks and other program due diligence. Schedule homeowner meetings, property assessments, document-signing appointments, and post-project inspections. Conduct in-home assessments to identify health, safety, accessibility, and energy-efficiency repair needs. Document property conditions through photographs, notes, and project records. Prepare bid requests and coordinate estimates from contractors. Track multiple contractors, estimates, projects, deadlines, and funding requirements simultaneously. Coordinate contractor workflow to ensure projects remain on schedule and comply with grant deadlines. Prepare homeowner agreements, orientation materials, compliance documents, denial letters, and project closeout paperwork. Maintain accurate electronic and physical project files, including required grant documentation. Upload project documents, photographs, estimates, and other required information into applicable systems. Assist with grant and program reporting throughout the year. Coordinate referrals to other community organizations when homeowner needs fall outside Habitat's scope of work. Work collaboratively with Habitat's Home Repair, Construction, Family Services, and other departments. Participate in weekly department meetings and organization-wide initiatives. Assist with special events, volunteer activities, Neighborhood Revitalization projects, and other Habitat programs as needed. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who can balance people and projects . You should be comfortable working directly with homeowners while also managing paperwork, contractors, deadlines, compliance requirements, and multiple projects at different stages.
Qualifications include:
Bachelor's degree preferred; relevant professional experience may be considered in place of a degree. Experience in project management, case management, housing programs, construction coordination, nonprofit services, community development, grant administration, or a related field is preferred. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation. Ability to communicate professionally and compassionately with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Ability and willingness to learn new software, grant requirements, construction terminology, and program processes. Comfortable visiting residential properties and documenting needed repairs. Valid driver's license and access to a legally registered and insured personal vehicle when a Habitat vehicle is unavailable. Eligible business mileage is reimbursed at the applicable rate. Ability to occasionally work evenings or weekends for special projects or events. Physical Requirements This position includes both office and field-based responsibilities. Candidates must be able to sit or stand for extended periods, travel to residential properties, navigate typical residential environments, and occasionally lift up to 30 pounds. Training The selected candidate will receive training related to Habitat programs, grant compliance, homeowner services, and organizational procedures. The employee must successfully complete required Habitat International and State of Michigan training applicable to the position within the designated timeframe. CPR and First Aid certification are a plus but are not required at the time of hire. Benefits This is a full-time, non-exempt, benefits-eligible position .
