This role involves overseeing complex transportation projects from conception through completion, ensuring they meet strategic objectives, regulatory standards, and community needs. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of urban planning, environmental permitting, and transportation planning processes, coupled with strong leadership and project management expertise. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence sustainable transportation solutions and contribute to community development efforts on a broad scale. Responsibilities Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of transportation projects, ensuring alignment with community goals and regulatory requirements. Develop detailed project schedules utilizing tools such as project scheduling software to monitor progress and manage timelines effectively. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including urban planners, engineers, environmental specialists, and community stakeholders. Prepare comprehensive reports, technical documentation, and presentations for internal use and public dissemination. Manage project budgets, contracts, and procurement processes while maintaining compliance with local ordinances and environmental laws. Conduct data collection and analysis using GIS (Geographic Information Systems), ArcView, ArcGIS, and other mapping software to support planning decisions. Ensure environmental compliance by adhering to regulations such as the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Oversee environmental permitting processes related to land use law in public permitting contexts. Supervise team members involved in drafting, CAD (Computer-Aided Design), Revit modeling, graphic design using Adobe Creative Suite, and technical research activities. Facilitate community engagement initiatives to incorporate public input into transportation planning efforts. Monitor project performance metrics and implement process improvements for efficiency. Requirements Proven experience in technical project management within transportation planning or urban development sectors. Strong proficiency with SketchUp, AutoCAD, Rhinoceros 3D, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, GIS software including ArcView and ArcGIS. Demonstrated ability to develop project schedules using specialized tools; experience with project scheduling software is preferred. Knowledge of land use law in public permitting processes, zoning regulations, local ordinances, and environmental law including NEPA and CEQA. Experience managing multidisciplinary teams with a focus on team management and leadership skills. Familiarity with environmental permitting procedures related to land use planning and construction projects. Excellent report writing skills along with data analysis capabilities for research-based decision making. Background in construction management or economic development related to transportation infrastructure is advantageous. Strong understanding of community planning principles, zoning regulations, land use planning strategies, and environmental compliance standards.
