Job Description

The Electrical Construction Project Manager position is responsible for marketing, estimating, project administration, planning, scheduling, and reporting for medium-sized electrical construction projects. Collins Electrical Construction Co. works on commercial and industrial projects in the Twin Cities area.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain existing customer relationships and actively develop new business opportunities to secure future projects. Direct and supervise service technicians, general foremen, foremen, and field crews to ensure strict compliance with project contracts, company policies, and applicable union labor agreements. Manage assigned project budgets, material procurement, and labor allocations to maximize profitability while maintaining quality workmanship and customer satisfaction. Prepare, process, and maintain all project documentation, including files, correspondence, schedules, reports, change orders, and progress billings. Direct the planning of the project through purchasing, design, subletting, and final installations. Collaborate effectively with internal teams during the bidding and pre-construction process when necessary.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Ability to interpret design/build requirements and thoroughly analyze contract scopes and construction documents. Knowledge of electrical materials, construction methodologies, tools, and National Electrical Code (NEC) standards. Strong proficiency in business management principles, including strategic planning, manpower resource allocation, leadership techniques, and production scheduling. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective coordination with field crews, clients, inspectors, and internal leadership. Ability to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and complete work. Ability to coordinate work with project engineers, estimators, other project managers, and team members. Preferred experience utilizing specialized industry estimating and management tools such as Accubid and Bluebeam. Regular, reliable attendance with flexibility to work outside of regular working hours when required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent baseline qualification. Minimum of 5 years of experience managing electrical construction projects (Required). Associate or bachelor's degree in construction management, electrical engineering, or a related field (preferred).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is split between a professional office setting and active commercial/industrial construction sites, requiring regular travel within the Twin Cities Metro area. Driver's License required. Must be able to physically navigate active job sites (PPE required). Requires prolonged periods of working on a computer and sitting at a desk. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, or kneel as required by site conditions.
