Our Business Strategy & Transformation Consulting practice helps utility clients drive organizational, operational, and strategic change through innovative approaches and measurable outcomes. We are seeking a Project Delivery Manager for our Business Strategy & Transformation Consulting group to lead high-impact projects, guide multidisciplinary teams, and serve as a trusted advisor to client stakeholders. This leadership role blends deep industry knowledge with strong consulting skills, providing opportunities to shape strategy, deliver transformation initiatives, and drive lasting client impact. As part of Burns & McDonnell, you will also play a key role in supporting our culture, values, and mission while advancing the growth of our practice. What You'll Do

  • Leadership & Team Development
  • + Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to consulting staff; conduct monthly one-on-one meetings and performance evaluations.

+ Recruit, develop, train, and retain high-performing staff members.

+ Interpret and communicate organizational policies, purposes, and goals to staff.

+ Coordinate workload, monitor billable time, and communicate staffing needs to managing directors, business line leads, and project managers.

+ Promote the Burns & McDonnell culture, values, and mission, along with 1898 & Co.'s traits: tenacious problem solvers, curious seekers, unselfish collaborators, and grit.

+ Enforce compliance with company and client safety policies.

+ Ensure QA/QC process adherence across all projects.

  • Project & Resource Management
  • + Lead end-to-end delivery of strategy and transformation consulting engagements for utility clients.

+ Structure and manage project workstreams across organizational, operational, and technology domains.

+ Serve as the primary point of contact for client sponsors, ensuring alignment, transparency, and satisfaction.

+ Provide expert-level technical guidance and support for consulting engagements.

+ Coordinate training, resources management, and support quality reviews across the practice.

+ Monitor project progress and performance, ensuring compliance with company policies and standards.

  • Strategic & Operational Execution
  • + Collaborate with business development managers, managing directors, business line leads, project managers, and proposal teams to secure new work.

+ Collaborate with account leaders to position services in response to emerging industry trends.

+ Build trusted client relationships to drive follow-on and recurring work.

+ Represent 1898 & Co. at industry conferences, networking events, and thought leadership forums.

+ Collaborate across practices (e.g., Energy & Utility Consulting, Digital & Cybersecurity Consulting) to deliver integrated solutions.

+ Implement and support company, global practice, and regional programs and initiatives; successfully lead teams through organizational change.

+ Achieve stated financial targets and performance standards.

+ Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Qualifications
  • Required Skills & Experience
  • + Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Finance, Business, or other related field and 5 years of related experience required.

+ Previous leadership and/or management experience is preferable.

+ Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.

+ Position requires the ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and manage change.

+ Must possess strong project management skills and a strategic perspective.

+ Must be expert in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Preferred Skills & Experience
  • + Demonstrated experience in client engagement, consulting, or management within management consulting, strategy, or transformation-focused environments.

+ Proven success in cultivating client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.

+ Five or more years of consulting experience in the U.S. electric and gas utilities sectors.

+ Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary consulting engagements and teams.

+ Strong understanding of business strategy, operational improvement, organizational transformation, or change management concepts.

+ Proven ability to lead complex client conversations, identify business needs, and translate them into actionable consulting solutions.

+ Experience supporting proposal development, scoping, pricing, and pursuit strategy for consulting engagements.

+ Excellent communication, relationship-building, and executive presence skills.

+ Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams, including strategy, technology, engineering, and operations.

+ Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial acumen.

  • Compensation
  • $115,000.

00-240,000.00 Yearly The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
