THE POSITION
Yankee Electric is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead commercial electrical construction projects from contract turnover through final financial closeout. This is a hands-on project leadership position with direct responsibility for project financial performance, scheduling, client relationships, contract compliance, field coordination, and team development. The Project Manager will work closely with field leadership, customers, general contractors, engineers, architects, vendors, subcontractors, and company leadership to deliver safe, profitable, and successful projects. The ideal candidate combines strong electrical construction knowledge with financial awareness, organization, leadership, and clear communication.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Take full ownership of assigned electrical construction projects from turnover through final closeout Develop project execution plans covering budgets, schedules, manpower, procurement, subcontractors, safety, quality, and communication Review contracts, drawings, specifications, estimates, and project scopes Lead project kickoff meetings with office and field teams Build, manage, and update detailed project budgets and cost structures Monitor labor, materials, subcontractors, equipment, overhead, and committed project costs Review job-cost reports, investigate variances, and implement corrective actions Prepare cost-to-complete projections, WIP schedules, revenue forecasts, cash-flow forecasts, and margin analyses Prepare and manage monthly payment applications and project billing Monitor accounts receivable and assist with the collection of overdue project invoices Protect project gross margins through strong cost control, labor-productivity management, and material oversight Develop and maintain project schedules, manpower plans, procurement schedules, and milestone commitments Monitor critical-path activities and implement recovery plans when project schedules are at risk Coordinate activities with field supervisors, foremen, general contractors, customers, designers, vendors, subcontractors, and inspectors Forecast manpower needs and work with operations leadership to allocate crews effectively Manage RFIs, submittals, purchase orders, procurement, project documentation, and correspondence Identify, document, price, submit, and track change orders Protect the company's contractual and financial interests by documenting delays, disruptions, and unforeseen conditions Understand and administer contract requirements, including payment terms, notice provisions, liquidated damages, warranties, and dispute procedures Serve as the primary client contact throughout the project Lead project meetings, provide proactive updates, manage expectations, and resolve concerns promptly Build strong client relationships that support repeat business and referrals Oversee project quality, inspection readiness, code compliance, and workmanship standards Manage punch lists, commissioning, as-built documentation, O&M manuals, warranties, training, final acceptance, and financial closeout Mentor Project Engineers and developing project-management personnel Maintain accurate project information in Knowify and other required company systems
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Seven to ten or more years of electrical construction experience Three to five or more years of construction project-management experience Demonstrated success managing commercial electrical construction projects Direct experience managing project budgets, schedules, field coordination, and client relationships Strong understanding of electrical construction methods, materials, sequencing, and code requirements Strong financial knowledge, including job costing, billing, forecasting, WIP reporting, margin management, and change orders Experience reviewing and administering construction contracts Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction project-management software Ability to build productive relationships with customers, field personnel, vendors, subcontractors, and company leadership
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND CREDENTIALS
Journeyman or Master Electrician license Project Management Professional certification OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification
NFPA 70E
certification Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Knowify, or similar construction-management systems Experience with project scheduling software Experience managing industrial, healthcare, or design-build electrical projects
