Hackensack, NJ 07601 Job Summary The O'Neill Group is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support the execution of wood-frame over podium, luxury multifamily residential construction projects . This role works closely with Project Managers and Superintendents to assist with budgeting, scheduling, contract administration, and day-to-day project coordination from preconstruction through close-out. The position is based in Hackensack, New Jersey , with regular travel to regional job sites. Key Responsibilities Project Coordination & Support Assist Project Managers with all phases of construction, from preconstruction through project close-out. Support coordination between ownership, design teams, consultants, subcontractors, and field supervision. Track action items and ensure follow-up on critical project tasks. Budgeting & Cost Control Assist with budget tracking, cost reports, and forecasting. Support review of subcontractor pay applications, change orders, and purchase orders. Participate in value engineering reviews and cost-saving initiatives. Schedule Management Assist in maintaining project schedules using Microsoft Projects, Procore, or similar tools. Track progress against milestones and flag potential schedule impacts. Coordinate subcontractor sequencing and logistics with the project team. Contract Administration & Documentation Assist with subcontractor procurement, bid comparisons, and contract documentation. Help manage RFIs, submittals, change requests, and close-out documentation. Maintain accurate and organized project records. Risk Management, Safety & Compliance Support compliance with OSHA , local building codes, and company safety policies. Assist with job-site safety documentation and reporting. Help identify and escalate potential project risks. Technology & Reporting Utilize Procore , Microsoft Project , and related construction management software. Prepare meeting minutes, status reports, and internal project updates. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 2-5+ years of experience in construction project coordination or assistant project management, preferably in multifamily or wood-frame residential construction . Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills. Proficiency with Procore , Microsoft Project , and Microsoft Office. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced construction environment. Additional Requirements Ability to travel to project sites as required. Ability to work in both office and active construction site environments. Must be able to sit, stand, walk job sites, climb stairs/ladders, and lift up to 25 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation. Work Environment A combination of office-based work and on-site field presence. Exposure to typical construction site conditions. Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary , commensurate with experience (anticipated range: $85,000 - $120,000 annually , depending on experience).
