Job Description

Project Manager - Industrial Equipment & Material Handling Atlantic Installation Company is looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our growing team and take ownership of industrial equipment, material handling, and construction-related projects throughout our service region. This is not an entry-level project coordinator position; We are looking for someone who already understands how to manage projects, coordinate vendors and field teams, communicate with customers, control costs, and keep work moving and who wants the opportunity to take on greater responsibility as our company grows! Experience in material handling, warehouse equipment, industrial construction, specialty contracting, mechanical systems, or commercial construction is highly desirable, but we are open to experienced Project Managers from other project-driven industries who have strong organizational and leadership skills. About the Role The Project Manager will take ownership of projects from handoff after sale through final completion and closeout.
Our projects may include:
Pallet rack and warehouse storage systems Conveyor and material handling systems Mezzanines and work platforms Vertical reciprocating conveyors (VRCs) Automotive and fleet maintenance equipment Loading dock equipment and overhead doorsIndustrial equipment installation and retrofit projects Facility upgrades and specialty construction projects Projects can range from smaller equipment installations to large, multi-vendor projects involving significant material purchases, subcontractors, equipment rentals, field crews, freight coordination, and customer scheduling. The successful candidate must be comfortable managing several projects simultaneously while understanding that larger or more complex projects may require significant individual attention. Key Responsibilities Take ownership of projects after turnover from Sales and Estimating Review project scope, proposal, drawings, schedule, and budget before execution Develop and maintain project schedules Coordinate equipment manufacturers, suppliers, subcontractors, freight carriers, rental companies, and field personnel Confirm materials and equipment are ordered, available, and delivered according to the project schedule Coordinate closely with Atlantic Installation's field leadership and installation teams Maintain regular communication with customers throughout the projectIdentify scheduling, scope, material, and cost issues before they become project problems Manage project changes and assist with preparation and processing of change orders Monitor project costs and protect estimated gross profit Maintain accurate project information within our ERP/CRM systemReview invoices, purchase orders, subcontractor costs, freight, rentals, and other project expenses Participate in project meetings and site visits as requiredAssist with permitting, engineering coordination, submittals, drawings, and documentation when applicable Manage punch-list completion and project closeoutEnsure completed projects are properly documented and ready for final invoicing Help improve Atlantic Installation's project-management procedures as the company grows What We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who already understands the fundamentals of project management. The ideal candidate does not need to know every product Atlantic Installation sells on their first day. We can teach our equipment, vendors, customers, and internal systems. We do expect the candidate to already understand how to: Organize and manage multiple projects Build and maintain schedules Communicate professionally with customers Coordinate vendors and subcontractors Track commitments and deadlinesReview project costs Manage changing priorities Recognize problems earlyFollow through without constant supervision Take responsibility for project outcomes Preferred Experience 3+ years of Project Management, Assistant Project Management, or comparable project leadership experience Experience in material handling, warehousing, industrial equipment, specialty contracting, mechanical contracting, or commercial construction preferred Experience coordinating field crews and subcontractors Experience working with manufacturers and equipment vendors Familiarity with construction drawings, plans, specifications, and submittals Experience with project budgets, job costing, purchase orders, and change orders Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software systems Experience with ERP, CRM, construction-management, or project-management software is beneficial A college degree is welcome but is not required for a candidate with strong relevant experience. You will work directly with company leadership and have visibility into estimating, sales, operations, installation, purchasing, job costing, and the financial performance of projects. This is a good opportunity for an experienced Assistant Project Manager who is ready to take full ownership of projects, or an established Project Manager who wants more autonomy and opportunity than they have in a larger corporate environment.
