Our client is a leading environmental solutions provider focused on water, waste, and energy services that drive sustainability and resource recovery. Position Overview:
IT Project Manager for Data & AI is responsible for coordinating and driving the successful delivery of priority data and AI projects within the Digital Business & Technology department. This role ensures timely execution of projects, manages cross-functional teams, and maintains adherence to budget and scope constraints across the data project lifecycle (ingestion, transformation, and governance), thereby accelerating the delivery of high-quality data products and business value. This position is ideal for a high potential and motivated individual looking to grow their career in IT project management.
Responsibilities:
Project Delivery:
Manage the end-to-end delivery of data models to enable self service BI to our users. Support and understand requirements gathering for new data ingestions & business data needs Monitor milestones and critical paths to ensure on-time delivery. Track actual spend vs. planned budget and flag variances early. Resource capacity planning to proper scale up or down as required based on ongoing projects/work Act as the primary administrator for Jira boards. Ensure all developer tasks are accurately captured, assigned, and updated. Maintain backlog hygiene and track velocity.
Stakeholder Communication:
Act as the main point of contact for project stakeholders, maintaining clear and regular communication about project progress, risks, and issues. Liaise cross-functional teams, ensuring effective collaboration and that tasks are appropriately delegated and executed.
Risk Management:
Identify potential bottlenecks (e.g., data quality issues, compute resource limits) and maintain a live risk register with clear mitigation plans.
Team Coordination:
Foster a collaborative environment within the Data Platform Team and other associated departments. Facilitate standard Scrum ceremonies including Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, and Sprint Retrospectives.
Continuous Improvement:
Implement and drive a continuous improvement mindset within the team. Analyze project performance data to identify areas for improvement.
Reporting:
Regularly report project progress, issues, and outcomes to senior management and stakeholders. Ensure transparency and visibility of the program's status and performance. Regular budget tracking & reporting
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. 1-3 years of experience in project coordination or IT support, or demonstrated passion and aptitude for project management. Ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams and eagerness to learn how to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with guidance and mentorship. Familiarity with Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) and project management tools such as Jira or Gitlab is a plus. A strong willingness to learn and apply these methods is essential. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent certifications/knowledge is beneficial Agile Scrum Master certification or similar is preferred Certifications related to data management, digital solutions, or environmental sustainability would be beneficial
Preferred Qualifications:
A basic understanding of Business Intelligence concepts, Data Warehouses (BigQuery familiarity is beneficial), data management, and project management. A high level of motivation to learn about our Data/AI platform is key. Strong verbal and written communication skills and comfort in engaging with both technical and non-technical team members. Eagerness to manage competing priorities and adapt quickly to evolving project needs under guidance.
Pay Rate:
