Certified Public Accountant or master's degree accounting/taxation/financial planning/business administration
Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience as a manager, 7+ years of automobile industry specific experience as a manager
  • 10+ years of experience in accounting/tax/controlling/finance
  • 10+ years' experience in finance systems SAP including SAP 4HANA and 5+ finance systems implementation
  • 10+ years of collaboration a project of diverse and distributed teams, Hands-on experience implementing a new accounting standard, such as IFRS or US GAAP
  • 10+ years of proven cross-functional collaboration in accounting/tax/controlling/business areas
  • 10+ years of automobile industry specific experience in cost accounting, financial planning (budgeting, forecasting), public accounting, tax accounting or corporate accounting
  • Broad knowledge of general accounting topics
  • Specific knowledge of warranty, goodwill, buyback, and service contract accounting including US lemon law knowledge
  • Advanced knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel
  • Advanced use of BI tools (Tableau, QLIK, Power BI)
Responsibilities:
Role requires a versatile set of skills and industry specific extensive experience. Incumbent must bring a senior accounting background, like Senior Corporate accounting not operational accounting. The candidate needs to be able analyze
US GAAP/ IFRS
standard treatment for very complex topics and service contracts.
  • Candidate needs to be familiar the US lemon law to determine correct accounting for buybacks
  • Candidate will perform complex financial analysis for business cases utilizing Power BI tools like Qlik/Tableau
  • Candidate must have skills and extensive experience in planning (budgeting and forecasting) for
Warranty, Goodwill, and Service Contracts:
Projects:
Candidate must know New Warrants System (NWS), Datamart, Qlik CPO, and oil only automation.
Analysis:
Batterie State of Health; Maintenance Upgrade programs; Multi Components contract Review.
Planning:
Planning and comparison for Warranty, Goodwill, and Service Contracts (WGSC).
  • The candidate independently plans (budget, forecasts, outlook), creates, and analyzes Warranty/Goodwill/Service Contract related provisions and liabilities. On a monthly basis this role provides actual / plan variance analysis of the financial result and creates reporting to senior management
  • This position also performs quarterly studies of Warranty / Goodwill / Service Contracts provisions and liabilities to ensure appropriate reserve levels. Further this position manages the development and implementation of tools to enhance and automate accounting processes
  • The candidate will manage the financial analysis of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (balance sheet and P&L) against budget, forecast and prior year actuals for total company analysis by segment and product line) and create reporting to senior management
  • Additional analysis of consolidated group view against budget/forecast in close collaboration with controlling
  • The candidate will manage the monthly Financial Statement Meeting and explain variances and overall business developments to head of accounting and head of controlling
  • Independently plan LRP, Budget, Forecast and Outlook for all aspects of provisions for Warranty, Goodwill (> $ 2 billion), as well as deferred revenue positions for Roadside Assistance, Scheduled Maintenance, Maintenance Plan Upgrades and CPO Protection (> $ 1.5 billion)
  • Cross-functional collaboration with multiple business departments on all management levels to lead the monitoring of program profitability/loss for service contracts on a vendor code / program level
  • Independently provide timely analyses, reporting of developments and proposals regarding program structure, pricing, efficiencies, and other revenue enhancing and cost savings opportunities as applicable to direct and upper management
  • Collaborate with multiple business departments on all management levels to align and understand the most current trends and to determine appropriate cost per unit for Warranty and Goodwill provisions
  • Independently organize and facilitate quarterly management briefing related on Warranty/Goodwill/Maintenance Plans/Recalls and coordinates the preparation with various process partners
  • Manages quarterly study of Warranty & Goodwill provision as well as Maintenance (Scheduled & Upgrades) and CPO Protection to ensure the appropriateness of provisions and reserves in the books
  • Serve as a subject matter expert specifically related to warranty provisions and deferred revenue positions while ensuring effective system utilization, accuracy of data flowing through systems
  • Continuously drive initiatives to automate processes as well as development of any new systems and any enhancements to current systems in close collaboration with IT in Financial Analysis and Warranty
  • Independently prepare ad hoc tasks for direct and upper management (analyses, presentation, estimates)
  • Independently investigate topics regarding fundamental accounting treatments under IFRS for all balance sheet and profit and loss statement items
  • Verify that internal accounting controls related to accounting processes are in place and effective
  • Work with and provide explanations to external auditor (PwC) for the annual audit and mid-year review
