Yes County Albany Street Address 110 State Street City Albany State NY Zip Code 12236 Duties Description Apply a wide range of specialized knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to direct and coordinate human and material resources at all phases of a project which includes origination, initiation, planning, execution and control, and closeout.
  • Manage projects and programs independently.
  • Assist management with more complex projects and programs.
  • Supervise and train Project Managers.
  • Assist with developing performance plans for Project Managers.
  • Conduct project management training for the agency. Minimum Qualifications To be appointed to this position, you must:
  • Be reachable for appointment on the Project Manager 2 or Project Manager 3 eligible list. OR
  • Be eligible for 52.6 transfer with one year of qualifying service in a title approved for transfer. Additional Comments Preferred Qualifications/Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects with the use of a formal methodology.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of project management methods, methodologies, frameworks, terminology, and processes.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects in the Office of the State Comptroller (OSC) and/or New York State (NYS) government.
  • Excellent organizational skills and able to set priorities when working on multiple tasks.
  • The ability to be flexible, adapt to change, and work well in a fast paced, participative, deadline-oriented environment with diverse assignments.
  • Attended previous project management training, preferably certified by the Project Management Institute (PMI), and professional certification through the PMI.
  • Proficient in Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and with Microsoft Teams.
  • Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Telecommuting:
The Office of the New York State Comptroller (OSC) supports telecommuting where it is reasonable to do so based upon the agency's mission and operational needs. Generally, employees new to OSC will be restricted from telecommuting for at least 8 calendar weeks. After the initial 8 calendar week restriction, if an employee's primary residence location, duties, and work performance are aligned with telecommuting and operational needs they may be allowed to do so. Generally, OSC employees may telecommute up to 5 days per pay period but may be approved to telecommute less.
