BACKGROUND

Since 1993, SEPA Mujer has been a vital grassroots non-profit organization dedicated to social change, women's rights, immigrant rights, and other crucial issues. As the only Latina Rights Organization of its kind, we provide safe spaces for empowerment, leadership development, civic engagement, and legal assistance. Our impactful work is achieved through unique training, workshops, monthly meetings, presentations, tabling, press work, and action-oriented engagement. We are a small, dedicated team, yet our impact in the community is profound. We pride ourselves on bridging essential services and resources to the community we serve, having built a deep foundation of trust over the decades.

POSITION OVERVIEW SEPA

Mujer is seeking a passionate Youth Project Coordinator to empower the next generation of leaders across Long Island. This role leads youth leadership facilitation, advocacy, and direct community engagement. You will design leadership workshops, mentor participants, build school partnerships, and guide projects that advance immigrant rights, environmental justice, and gender equity. Working closely with SEPA Mujer's Program Coordinator and Program Outreach Coordinator, you will also supervise seasonal college interns (one summer, one academic year) and run specialized initiatives tailored for local young Latinx.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

School & Community Partnerships:

Work directly with local schools to introduce youth programming, build strong community partnerships, and drive participant recruitment. Recruit guest speakers for workshops, action campaigns, and youth initiatives.

Social Justice & Campaign Collaboration:

Collaborate closely with the Senior Organizer to develop and execute social justice campaigns, including voter engagement, financial literacy, digital media workshops, and identity-focused initiatives.

Youth Workshops & Leadership Clubs:

Lead biweekly Youth Leadership Workshops and Advocacy Clubs, as well as the Patchogue leadership chapter for women and teenagers to strengthen civic engagement and service-learning skills.

Digital & Career Skill Building:

Assist with monthly Digital Civic Engagement Workshops and offer monthly career, wellness, and future planning workshops led by Latina professionals for alumni, school-based participants, and clients' daughters.

Recruitment & Target Metrics:

Serve a minimum of 60 youth annually—including recruiting 20 new girls for the summer leadership program—with target goals of 70%+ demonstrating increased civic knowledge and confidence.

Community Action & Support:

Organize action campaigns, community service projects, and volunteer opportunities, inviting workshop speakers to participate. Provide direct, one-on-one support to youth participants as needed.

Intern Supervision & Collaboration:

Partner with the Program Coordinator and Program Outreach Coordinator to manage schedules, track data, and support strategic planning. Direct and mentor two college interns per year placed via university credit/compensation programs.

Program Evaluation:

Measure program impact on participants' decision-making, self-esteem, engagement levels, and academic outcomes using pre- and post-surveys.
