Job Description
Assistant Project Manager - Multifamily ConstructionPosition Overview We are seeking a proactive Assistant Project Manager to support delivery of multi-family and mixed-use construction projects, with emphasis on stick-frame apartments. The role assists the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and tracking construction activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget while meeting quality standards and client expectations.
Key ResponsibilitiesSupport the Project Manager in day-to-day project oversight for multi-family, apartment, and mixed-use developments, especially stick-frame construction.
Assist with project scheduling, monitor milestones, and coordinate subcontractor activities to maintain progress and resolve delays.
Prepare, review, and manage subcontracts, purchase orders, change orders, and procurement activities; track costs and assist with budget forecasting.
Review and process RFIs, submittals, coordination drawings, and shop drawings; follow through to resolution with design teams and trade partners.
Conduct regular site visits to monitor quality, safety compliance, and progress; document conditions with reports and photos.
Coordinate inspections, testing, and punch lists; support closeout activities and turnover documentation for apartment and mixed-use projects.
Maintain project documentation in project management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam) and produce weekly status reports for internal teams and clients.
Support safety programs and enforce company/site safety policies; participate in safety meetings and toolbox talks.
Assist in client and stakeholder communication, attend project meetings, and support relationship management to ensure client satisfaction.
Identify risks and opportunities on site, propose mitigation plans, and escalate issues to the Project Manager as needed.
QualificationsBachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent experience preferred.2+ years of construction experience with direct exposure to multi-family, apartment, or mixed-use projects; stick-frame construction experience strongly preferred.
Experience supporting project management activities: scheduling, subcontracts, change orders, RFIs, and closeout.
Familiarity with construction management software (Procore, PlanGrid, Bluebeam) and scheduling tools (MS Project or Primavera).Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills; ability to coordinate multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Working knowledge of construction methods, codes, inspections, and QA/QC practices relevant to multi-family and mixed-use construction.
OSHA 10 (required) or OSHA 30 (preferred); valid drivers license and willingness to travel between sites.
Problem-solving mindset, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach to working with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and owners.
Relevant certifications a plus: Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Associate Constructor (AC), PMP, or equivalent.
