Job Description

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Planning Manager leads the efforts of the planning team to ensure the delivery of an optimal production schedule that supports all inbound material deliveries from internal and external suppliers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Manages the scheduling of plant production to optimize production efficiency, minimize changeover time, and ensure customer delivery.
  • Validates production entries in the company's internal systems as well as, customers' systems to ensure optimal customer service and performance.
  • Validates sales entries in the company's internal system.
  • Ensures that order and track materials using MRP systems to support production.
  • Manages the creation of internal work orders, and pick lists to support the production schedule.
  • Ensures that customer product receipts are entered into the customer's system when required
  • Ensure customer product receipts have been properly entered into the system
  • Works closely with Production and Quality Managers to coordinate the execution of the production schedule.
  • Meet with customers in person, and via phone to communicate production plans, risk to customer orders, and help requests.
  • Work closely with customers in properly prioritizing scheduling of at-risk orders.
  • Complies with safety rules and ensures compliance with OSHA standards, and state and local regulations including FDA standards.
  • Be an advocate for safe work habits, and a safe work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing company standards, GMPs, PPE requirements, and procedures.
  • Strong technical experience with the ability to quickly learn new programs and applications to support operations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, peers, management, team members, and other departments.
  • Responsible for cross-communication between shifts.
  • Performs required administrative tasks; prepares required reports and correspondence.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all operating systems pertaining to the work area.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities per the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems .
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 3-5 years experience in production operations, supply chain, scheduling, or logistics
  • Able to develop, coach, train and counsel others.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience
  • Ability to influence/collaborate cross-functionally and ommunicate clearly with managers, supervisors, and other team members.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Priority Management skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PP, Outlook)
  • Able to work in a team environment and take direction.
  • Able to work calmly and effectively under pressure.
  • Must have a basic knowledge of lean manufacturing.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, time-restricted environment.
  • General Professional Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English (bilingual a plus)
  • Adhere to company safety standards.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to: stand; walk; sit; use hands finger dexterity, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift, push, or move items up to 50 pounds. Use visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and use a keyboard. Frequently work near moving mechanical parts. Occasionally work in high, precarious places. Occasionally work around fumes, airborne particles, or toxic chemicals. Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and loud noises. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position requires work in both an office setting and a warehouse setting. Work occasionally requires "after-hours" communication or extended work hours, including weekend or evening work. Working conditions in the warehouse setting may or may not be environmentally controlled resulting in hot or cold temperatures.
