Job Title:
Project Manager Job Description This Project Manager role oversees a $135M mixed-use and multi-family construction project in Muskegon, MI. You will lead project forecasting and cost controls while driving schedule, quality, safety, and profitability. As the primary field contact for owners and project stakeholders, you will coordinate subcontractors, manage day-to-day operations, and ensure successful project delivery and closeout on a large-scale, long-term construction initiative. Responsibilities Serve as the primary field contact for owners and project stakeholders, ensuring seamless communication and alignment with project goals. Deliver timely results that exceed company goals for profitability, schedule adherence, quality standards, and safety performance. Coordinate subcontractors and internal personnel, including managing schedules, sequencing work, and maintaining strong client relationships. Lead daily and weekly meetings with foremen and subcontractors to ensure alignment, resolve issues, and maintain efficient field operations. Establish and implement comprehensive quality control plans to ensure all work meets specifications and industry standards. Manage construction supervision activities in the field, monitoring progress, safety, and workmanship across all trades. Oversee cost management and forecasting for the project, including tracking budgets, analyzing financial performance, and reporting variances. Administer change management processes, including evaluating, pricing, and negotiating change orders. Ensure effective construction scheduling, updating project timelines, and adjusting plans as needed to meet milestones. Drive safety initiatives on site, promoting a culture of safety and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and company policies. Support adaptive reuse and complex construction activities associated with mixed-use, multi-family, and commercial building types. Use project management and construction management systems, including Jonas, to document, track, and report on project activities. Maintain strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle, demonstrating a solutions-oriented and business development mindset. Lead the project through timely and thorough closeout, including documentation, punch lists, and turnover to the owner. Work a schedule that may exceed 40 hours per week to meet project demands and deadlines. Essential Skills Proven experience as a Project Manager in construction, with at least 8+ years of construction experience. Experience managing large-scale construction projects valued at $60M or more. Hands-on experience with mixed-use and multi-family buildings and/or hotel projects. Strong construction management and construction supervision skills in a field-based role. Expert-level scheduling and coordination abilities to align subcontractors and internal personnel with project deliverables. Demonstrated cost management and forecasting experience for complex construction projects. Proficiency in change management, including handling change orders and related documentation. Experience in commercial construction and adaptive reuse projects. Ability to maintain high standards of safety, quality, and schedule performance on site. Solutions-oriented mindset with a strong focus on business development and client relationship management. Four-year degree preferred or equivalent general contractor experience of 8+ years. Familiarity with construction management software, including Jonas or similar platforms. Additional Skills & Qualifications Four-year degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent general contractor experience of 8+ years may be considered in place of a degree. Experience with multi-family, mixed-use, and hotel construction is highly beneficial. Engineering certifications such as Professional Engineer (P.E.) are a plus. Safety and sustainability-related certifications such as OSHA, USGBC, CMMA, ASHE or similar are desirable. Strong communication and leadership skills to manage diverse teams and stakeholders. Ability to work independently in the field while collaborating closely with design-build and self-performing teams. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Muskegon, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $75.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
