MMA Architects is a multi-sector architectural firm with expertise in retail, mixed-use development, commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, hospitality, and residential design. While our work spans a wide range of markets, this opportunity is within our growing Retail Studio, where we support some of the nation's largest retail brands through every phase of project delivery. Based in our Summerville, South Carolina office, you'll lead projects ranging from ground-up stores and major expansions to remodels, tenant improvements, and prototype rollouts across the United States. You'll work closely with clients, consultants, and an experienced internal team to deliver high-quality projects on schedule while building lasting client relationships. What You'll Do Manage multiple commercial retail projects through every phase of design and construction. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, contractors, and internal project teams. Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and project deliverables. Lead consultant coordination meetings and oversee multidisciplinary project teams. Guide projects through entitlement, permitting, and construction administration. Review construction documents for quality, coordination, and completeness. Mentor architects and designers while helping develop future project leaders. Identify project risks early and develop practical solutions that keep projects moving. Build long-term client relationships through responsiveness, communication, and technical expertise. Help improve project delivery processes and contribute to the continued growth of MMA's Retail Studio. Who You Are You're a leader who enjoys bringing people together to solve problems. You communicate clearly, stay organized under pressure, and know how to balance client expectations, consultant coordination, and project schedules. You take ownership of your projects, support your team, and build trust through accountability and follow-through. What We're Looking For Experience & Education Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited program. 7-15 years of architectural project management experience. Architectural registration preferred but not required. Experience managing commercial retail projects is strongly preferred. Experience with national retail programs, prototype-based projects, or multi-site rollouts is highly desirable. Technical Skills Strong proficiency in Revit. Thorough understanding of construction documentation and consultant coordination. Knowledge of commercial building systems, building codes, accessibility requirements, and permitting processes. Experience with construction administration and resolving field issues. Professional Skills Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously. Experience leading multidisciplinary consultant teams. Ability to mentor and develop junior staff. Strong client relationship and problem-solving skills. Success in This Role Within your first year, you will: Successfully manage multiple national retail projects simultaneously. Build trusted relationships with clients and consultant teams. Deliver projects that meet schedule, budget, and quality expectations. Mentor younger architects and designers within the Retail Studio. Help strengthen project management processes and contribute to the continued growth of the Retail Studio. Why MMA? $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
