Job Description
CORE Environmental Consultants, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Project Manager to oversee hazardous materials investigations and asbestos abatement projects for New York City School Construction Authority (NYCSCA) renovation and capital improvement projects. This role includes managing environmental surveys, supervising project monitors and inspectors, coordinating with contractors and project officers, and preparing regulatory documentation to support school renovation and demolition projects. The primary focus of this role will be managing NYCSCA projects, with additional assignments supporting projects for Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation, NYCDDC, and Ryder Truck Rental. Responsibilities Manage environmental projects from building survey through abatement completion and project closeout Conduct hazardous materials inspections for school renovations and demolition projects Perform asbestos inspections and bulk sampling in accordance with NYCDEP regulations Supervise NYS DOL Project Monitors, air sampling technicians, and field inspectors Coordinate with general contractors, SCA project officers, and construction managers Oversee asbestos abatement operations and environmental compliance during construction Participate in pre-bid walkthroughs, project meetings, and contractor coordination Prepare environmental documentation including survey reports, scopes of work, cost estimates, and contractor responses Prepare regulatory filings including ACP-5 and ACP-15 forms Ensure all environmental documentation meets NYCSCA and regulatory requirements Required Qualifications NYCDEP Asbestos Investigator License (required) NYS Department of Labor Project Monitor Certification (required) Experience performing asbestos inspections and hazardous materials surveys Familiarity with NYCSCA environmental procedures and school construction projects preferred Ability to interpret construction drawings and renovation scopes Strong technical writing and documentation skills Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines Additional Requirements Valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle Ability to travel to project sites throughout New York City Ability to work nights and weekends when required for school construction schedules Ability to perform site inspections in active construction environments About CORE Environmental Consultants CORE Environmental Consultants, Inc. is a WBE-certified environmental and civil engineering firm specializing in environmental compliance, hazardous materials consulting, and water resources engineering for public and private sector clients.
