Summary An established, multi-disciplinary engineering firm is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer/Assistant Project Manager (APM) to join its team on a full-time, direct-hire basis in Milton, DE. This position will support a diverse portfolio of Site/Civil and Land Development projects, combining hands-on civil engineering and design responsibilities with project coordination, client interaction, and technical leadership. Position Responsibilities Support and manage Site/Civil and Land Development projects from initial planning and design through permitting, bidding, and construction. Prepare, review, and oversee civil engineering plans, including grading, utility, stormwater management (SWM), and erosion and sediment control (E&S) plans. Utilize survey field data to develop accurate and constructible civil engineering designs. Prepare and review site/civil details, exhibits, calculations, specifications, and construction documents. Coordinate project schedules, deliverables, budgets, and day-to-day project activities. Work directly with clients, municipalities, contractors, regulatory agencies, surveyors, and other consultants. Assist Project Managers and senior leadership with project planning, technical coordination, and client communication. Provide technical guidance, quality control, and oversight to junior engineers and designers. Mentor and support less-experienced staff members as needed. Review engineering drawings and technical deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable requirements. Prepare and coordinate State, County, and local permitting documentation. Assist with preparation of bid documents, including plans, specifications, and cost estimates. Perform engineering calculations, including area, slope, volume, drainage, and other site-related calculations as required. Participate in client meetings, site visits, construction observations, and field activities as needed. Assist with municipal grant applications and supporting engineering documentation. Help identify project issues and develop practical engineering solutions. Manage multiple assignments and deadlines while maintaining project quality and productivity. Participate in proposals, scope development, and other business-development activities as appropriate. Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. Project Experience The successful candidate may contribute to a broad range of civil engineering projects, including: Municipal infrastructure improvements Residential and commercial land development Greenfield and brownfield development Roadways and streetscapes Stormwater management and collection improvements Green stormwater infrastructure Water and wastewater treatment facilities Water and sewer utility systems Parks and recreational facilities Athletic fields and sports facilities Municipal capital improvement projects Public-sector and grant-funded projects Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering field. 5+ years of professional civil engineering/design experience. Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, or demonstrated progress toward obtaining licensure. Strong experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and other engineering/CADD tools. Experience with Site/Civil and Land Development design. Experience preparing grading, utility, SWM, and E&S plans. Experience preparing engineering plans, specifications, estimates, bid documents, and permit applications. Ability to interpret and incorporate survey field data into engineering designs. Strong understanding of civil engineering principles and technical mathematics. Ability to manage multiple projects, assignments, and deadlines. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively within a multi-disciplinary team. Valid Driver's License, as occasional field work may be required. Preferred Qualifications Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Delaware or the ability to obtain Delaware licensure. Experience with municipal engineering projects and municipal clients. Experience working on both greenfield and brownfield land development projects. Experience coordinating with local, County, and State regulatory agencies. Experience with Delaware permitting requirements and regulatory processes. Previous project management or Assistant Project Manager experience. Experience mentoring junior engineers, designers, or technical staff. Strong understanding of project schedules, budgets, scopes, and deliverables.
