PROJECT MANAGER / ACCESSIBILITY GOVERNANCE LEAD
The Project Manager / Accessibility Governance Lead will lead an enterprise-wide digital accessibility and ADA compliance initiative supporting a municipal government environment. The Project Manager will oversee project planning, stakeholder coordination, accessibility governance, policy development, remediation planning, training, and implementation activities. This position will serve as a primary point of coordination across project teams, client stakeholders, departments, vendors, and other partners while helping establish sustainable accessibility policies, standards, processes, and governance practices.
Key responsibilities include:

Project Management and Delivery:
Lead project planning, scheduling, coordination, and execution across multiple accessibility workstreams. Manage project milestones, deliverables, priorities, risks, and dependencies. Coordinate accessibility assessment, remediation, governance, training, monitoring, and advisory activities. Facilitate project meetings and provide regular status updates to project stakeholders. Coordinate multidisciplinary technical and nontechnical project resources. 2.
Accessibility Governance and Strategy:
Lead development and implementation of enterprise digital accessibility governance strategies. Support development of accessibility policies, standards, operational processes, and workflows. Support development of an Enterprise Digital Accessibility Assessment and Strategic Roadmap. Establish processes for accessibility review, remediation prioritization, monitoring, and ongoing compliance. Provide guidance regarding accessibility considerations in procurement and third-party technology. Help establish sustainable accessibility practices that can be incorporated into ongoing City operations. 3.
Stakeholder Engagement and Organizational Support:
Engage stakeholders across multiple departments and organizational levels. Facilitate accessibility planning sessions, workshops, and stakeholder discussions. Translate accessibility requirements into practical recommendations for technical and nontechnical audiences. Support accessibility awareness, organizational change, training, and knowledge transfer. Coordinate with vendors and other external stakeholders regarding accessibility requirements and remediation. Required qualifications to be successful in this role: Demonstrated experience managing complex digital accessibility, technology, compliance, consulting, or related initiatives. Experience supporting enterprise-level accessibility programs or initiatives. Strong knowledge of ADA Title II and
WCAG 2.1
Level AA accessibility requirements. Experience developing or implementing accessibility policies, governance frameworks, operational processes, or organizational standards. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams and stakeholder groups. Strong stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills. Ability to translate technical and regulatory requirements into business-friendly recommendations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with technical teams, leadership, vendors, content owners, and other stakeholders.
Preferred skills include:
Experience supporting municipal, local government, state government, or other public-sector organizations. Experience leading enterprise ADA Title II or digital accessibility initiatives. Experience developing accessibility strategic roadmaps or transition plans. Experience with accessibility governance, procurement, remediation, monitoring, and training. Relevant project management and/or accessibility certifications.
