This energetic position offers the opportunity to work on diverse geotechnical and construction initiatives, assisting with project planning, technical analysis, and field operations. You will collaborate with engineers, surveyors, and construction teams to ensure projects are executed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with technical specifications. This paid position is ideal for motivated individuals eager to develop their expertise in geotechnical engineering, construction management, and land surveying within a fast-paced environment. Millennium Engineers Group, Inc. is seeking a dependable and organized Geotechnical Project Assistant to support our Geoscience Division. This is a hands-on position that combines project coordination, fieldwork, documentation, and occasional laboratory support. The Geotechnical Project Coordinator will help keep projects moving by tracking schedules, coordinating field activities, gathering required information, maintaining project records, and communicating with team members, clients, contractors, and field personnel. This is not a desk-only position and does not require an engineering degree. We are looking for someone who is responsible, communicates well, is comfortable working outdoors, and takes ownership of assigned tasks. Training will be provided for candidates who demonstrate the right attitude, work ethic, organizational skills, and willingness to learn. Primary Responsibilities Project Coordination Track geotechnical projects from authorization through fieldwork, laboratory testing, report preparation, and final delivery. Coordinate with project managers, drillers, laboratory staff, administrative personnel, clients, contractors, and subcontractors. Confirm project addresses, site contacts, access conditions, boring locations, utility-clearance status, and scheduled field dates. Follow up on missing information needed to keep projects moving. Maintain project schedules, task lists, field records, photographs, laboratory information, and internal tracking systems. Identify delays, access issues, missing information, or unexpected conditions and communicate them to the appropriate project manager. Provide basic project-status updates to clients and internal team members. Help ensure completed field and laboratory information is submitted promptly for report preparation. Assist with project setup, documentation, scheduling, and closeout activities. Field Responsibilities Travel to project sites throughout Texas. Visit sites to confirm access, project limits, boring locations, and field readiness. Assist drilling crews and field personnel with geotechnical exploration activities. Observe and document drilling progress, soil conditions, groundwater observations, sample recovery, and general site conditions. Take clear project photographs and maintain organized field notes. Label, organize, transport, and deliver soil samples. Communicate field issues or unexpected conditions to the project manager or engineer. Safely operate company vehicles and maintain company equipment. Laboratory Support Receive, label, organize, and track soil and construction-material samples. Assist with routine geotechnical laboratory testing after training. Prepare samples for testing. Maintain clean and organized laboratory and sample-storage areas. Enter laboratory and field information into company systems. Help identify missing samples, incomplete testing, and overdue assignments. Assist laboratory personnel with general testing and sample-handling activities. Documentation and Reporting Support Prepare clear field notes, daily reports, sample records, photographs, and project updates. Assist with entering boring information and laboratory results. Help assemble report figures, appendices, field logs, and supporting documents. Review project documents for missing information, inconsistent details, and basic formatting issues. Maintain organized electronic and physical project files. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Reliable transportation to the assigned office or reporting location. Ability to communicate professionally by phone, email, and in person. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Basic computer skills, including email, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel. Ability to organize multiple assignments and follow up without constant supervision. Willingness to work outdoors in heat, cold, wind, mud, and other typical construction-site conditions. Ability to lift and carry equipment and soil samples weighing approximately 50 pounds. Willingness to travel and occasionally work early mornings, evenings, or extended days based on project needs. Preferred Qualifications The following experience or education is helpful but not required: Associate degree or technical certificate in construction, engineering technology, geology, surveying, project management, or a related field. Bachelor's degree in a related field. Experience in construction, drilling, inspection, surveying, materials testing, laboratory work, logistics, or field services. Experience coordinating schedules, crews, deliveries, service calls, or active projects. Experience preparing field reports or maintaining project documentation. OSHA, ACI, TxDOT, nuclear-gauge, or other construction-related certifications. Experience driving a company truck or towing a small trailer. Desired Characteristics Dependable, punctual, and professional. Takes ownership of assignments and follows them through to completion. Notices missing information and addresses it before it causes a delay. Communicates problems early rather than waiting until a deadline is missed. Comfortable communicating with clients, contractors, drillers, technicians, and office personnel. Able to balance office work, fieldwork, and laboratory responsibilities. Comfortable working independently and as part of a team. Interested in learning how geotechnical projects are completed. Willing to take on increasing responsibility as experience is gained. Able to work in a fast-moving environment with changing priorities. What Success Looks Like A successful Geotechnical Project Assistant will help ensure that: Field crews have the information needed before arriving at a project site. Project managers know the current status of their active projects. Missing information and scheduling problems are identified early. Field notes, photographs, samples, and laboratory assignments are organized and complete. Clients receive timely and professional communication. Projects do not sit unattended because follow-up was missed. Company vehicles, equipment, samples, and project records are properly maintained.
