$28-$34 per hour, based on experience Position Overview Fox Valley Fencing is looking for a dependable, hands-on, bilingual English/Spanish professional to manage daily shop and material operations while developing into a Fence Project Manager. This is an active construction position—not a desk-only management job. The right person will take ownership of preparing jobs, organizing materials, supporting crews, maintaining the shop and equipment, completing fence repairs and keeping daily operations moving efficiently. As this employee learns our systems and proves their ability, the position will grow into managing sold fence projects from start to finish. The long-term goal is for this person to coordinate materials and crews, visit job sites, communicate with customers, solve project issues and conduct final walkthroughs. We are looking for a motivated long-term team member who wants responsibility, advancement and the opportunity to become a key part of our company. Primary Responsibilities Review upcoming jobs and prepare materials according to job paperwork and material lists Pull, organize and stage complete fence jobs for installation crews Load and unload trucks, trailers and material deliveries Pick up fence materials, tools, parts and supplies from vendors Receive, inspect and properly store incoming materials Clean up, count and organize materials returned by crews Keep the shop, yard, storage areas, trucks, trailers, tools and equipment clean and organized Maintain an accurate understanding of available materials and supplies Report damaged, missing or low-stock materials before they delay a project Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs on trucks, trailers, tools and construction equipment Perform basic welding, fabrication and equipment repairs Maintain the grounds, including general cleanup and seasonal maintenance Communicate with English- and Spanish-speaking crews regarding materials, job requirements and scheduling Independently complete fence repairs and smaller fence projects when qualified Assist crews in the field when additional support is needed Follow company safety procedures and properly care for company property Identify work that needs to be completed and handle it without constant supervision Project Manager Development After demonstrating strong performance in shop operations, logistics and fence work, this employee will begin training to manage sold projects from start to finish.
Additional responsibilities may include:
Reviewing contracts, drawings, measurements and project requirements Confirming that all materials are ordered and available before installation Coordinating installation schedules with the office and crews Assigning work and clearly communicating project expectations Visiting job sites before, during and after installation Providing customers with professional project updates Monitoring workmanship, safety, productivity and job-site cleanliness Identifying and resolving material, installation and scheduling issues Documenting changes, delays, damage and additional work Coordinating repairs, corrections and final completion items Conducting final walkthroughs with customers Confirming that each project is completed correctly and ready for final invoicing Helping the company improve its organization, efficiency and customer experience Required Qualifications Able to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record Experience in fencing, construction, landscaping or a related outdoor trade Comfortable driving pickup trucks and pulling trailers Familiarity with hand tools, power tools and construction equipment Basic mechanical and equipment-maintenance ability Able to read job paperwork, material lists, measurements and basic project drawings Able to communicate professionally with customers, employees, subcontractors and suppliers Strong organizational, problem-solving and time-management skills Dependable, punctual and able to work with limited supervision Willing to perform both physical labor and project-coordination responsibilities Able to safely lift and carry up to 75 pounds Able to bend, kneel, climb, stand and work outdoors in varying weather conditions Preferred Qualifications Professional fence installation and repair experience Knowledge of vinyl, wood, chain-link and ornamental fencing Welding or metal-fabrication experience Forklift, skid-steer or other construction-equipment experience Experience loading, securing and transporting construction materials Experience with inventory, warehouse or material-management systems Crew-leadership, foreman or project-coordination experience Experience handling customer questions and job-site concerns Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, email, scheduling programs and job-management software What We Are Looking For We need someone who takes ownership of their work and understands that preparation and organization determine whether crews succeed in the field. The right candidate notices problems before they become emergencies, keeps materials and equipment organized and follows through until the work is complete. This position is ideal for an experienced fence installer, construction lead, shop lead or mechanically skilled bilingual tradesperson who wants to move into operations and project management. A college degree is not required. Proven ability, dependability, communication skills and willingness to learn are more important. Compensation and Advancement Starting pay is $28-$34 per hour, depending on fencing knowledge, welding ability, mechanical experience, bilingual communication skills and leadership experience. Increased responsibility and compensation will be available as the employee demonstrates the ability to independently manage projects, crews and customer communication.
