Reporting to the vice president for student affairs and serving as a member of the vice president's Executive Cabinet, the assistant vice president for student services (AVP) provides executive leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for a complex and highly visible portfolio within UAB's Division of Student Affairs. The AVP oversees Housing and Dining, the Hill Student Center, and Student Media, as well as the facilities and infrastructure that support these operations. As a senior divisional leader, the AVP helps shape priorities, advance strategic initiatives, and contribute to institutional strategy, policy development, and enterprise risk management, ensuring that the portfolio's programs, services, and operations align with the division's long-term vision and UAB's broader mission. The assistant vice president oversees a dynamic team of 30 staff members, including four direct reports, and administers an annual budget of approximately $46.5 million.

Salary Range:

$150,000 - $170,000 Qualifications A master's degree in a related field and a minimum of ten years of progressively responsible professional experience are required. Work experience may not substitute for the educational requirement. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities, along with exceptional written and verbal communication skills. The position requires the capacity to exercise sound judgment, navigate complex organizational environments, establish productive relationships with various constituencies, manage multiple priorities, and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the university.
