The Parks and Recreation Department offers residents and visitors access to more than 41,000 acres of desert parks and mountain preserves. These areas include 41 trailheads, over 200 miles of trails, and 182 city parks. The department also operates 32 community and recreation centers, provides classes and sports programs for all ages, manages 29 pools and eight golf courses, and maintains a wide range of specialty, cultural, and recreational facilities. The Parks Supervisor role directs and prioritizes the work of supervisory staff responsible for the care and maintenance of city parks, mountain preserves, landscaped areas, special facilities, community centers, sports fields, turf, and other public grounds. The position works closely with other divisions and departments to coordinate major maintenance projects and support recreation activities. In addition, the Parks Supervisor participates in budget development and management, oversees capital improvement projects and equipment procurement, ensures compliance with regulations related to land, water, and air, and conducts inspections to evaluate work quality. The role also involves labor-management responsibilities, including coordination with unions and adherence to negotiated memoranda of understanding.IDEAL CANDIDATE

$78,540.80 - $110,510.40 annually.Hiring Range:

Five years of supervisory experience in parks maintenance, including three years of experience as a second-line supervisor (or three years of supervisory experience in parks maintenance work at the level of Parks Foreman II), Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position. The minimum qualifications listed above, plus: Five plus years of experience managing large scale budgets. Five plus years of experience in athletic field and turf maintenance. Five plus years of experience training and developing staff. Three plus years of experience managing Building/Trade maintenance staff. Three plus years experience and an understanding of procurement processes and contract management. Two plus years of experience with Capital Improvement Program projects. Experience in the principles and practices of employee supervision and personnel administration. Experience in operating budgets and asset control. Experience in park maintenance, operations and management practices. Experience with horticulture practices, irrigation, and landscape. Experience in community engagement. A bachelor's degree in park and recreation management, horticulture, construction management, or related field. State of Arizona Office of Pest Management License, National Playground Safety Institute Certification, International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist, or Arizona Landscape Contractor Association Sustainable Landscape Management certification.RECRUITMENT DATES
