Job Description

Oakland Kids First develops youth leaders to imagine and build a future rooted in possibility and community power. We help youth navigate unjust conditions, develop alternative approaches to meet community needs, and build the power to transform systems to better serve Oaklanders. Each year, OKF engages 120 youth organizers and reaches over 3,000 additional students in our citywide campaigns and school-based programs at Castlemont, Fremont, Skyline, Oakland Tech, and Oakland High schools.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Under the supervision of - and in partnership with - Oakland Kids First's Deputy Director, the Castlemont Community Initiatives (CCI) Senior Manager plans, oversees, and implements comprehensive programming and services for students at Castlemont High School. This position is essential for managing OKF's Knight Time, Castle Cares, and Castle Farm and Garden programs; building community with Castlemont students, teachers and administrators; and ensuring high quality postsecondary readiness opportunities are available for students. The CCI Senior Manager must have a demonstrated ability to build out an effective site-specific full service community school model, effectively supervise and develop the capacity of program staff, convene community partners, oversee all Castlemont Community Initiatives programming, and be a loving resource for students.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Management Provide leadership for all of Oakland Kids First programming at Castlemont High School including Knight Time After School, Castle Cares, and Castlemont Farm and Garden Programs by supporting staff, partner teachers, and other providers; facilitating communication; planning services; completing reports; conducting evaluation; and maintaining safe engaging spaces for youth. Train all after school workers in positive youth development practices; assess and evaluate alignment and quality of extended day programming; and offer constructive feedback and coaching to OKF staff and outside providers. Attend all relevant organizational meetings; represent the organization as needed in external meetings and events. Work with Knight Time Site Coordinator to coordinate day-to-day operations of high school after school programs and ensure compliance of all OUSD 21 st Century after school requirements. Work with Care Coordinators to enhance program design, ensure students in Castle Cares program are connected to appropriate resources and supported to meet academic, SEL, and attendance goals. Support with Castlemont Farm and Garden team to maintain a 1 acre educational, community, production farm. Work with academic mentor(s) to ensure that academic support and targeted intervention activities are provided to identified students during Knight Time academic time. Work with the program assistant to ensure all attendance is submitted in the correct database on a timely basis. Foster an environment that promotes teamwork and upholds the principles of Oakland Kids First and Castlemont High School's Knight Way. Program Oversight & Compliance Work with Castlemont Community Initiative to ensure that funding outcomes are met at a timely manner. Work with staff to maintain a system of data collection for all other required documentation, including enrollment forms, emergency cards, permission slips, receipts, and evaluation tools. Ensure programmatic activities are aligned and in compliance with grant outcomes. Ensure additional programming and community events are aligned with OKF purpose and in compliance with grant objectives as well as student needs Include parents/guardians, teachers, and other stakeholders in program design, evaluation, & other processes. Oversee facility management, including office, classrooms, and other shared spaces, during after school hours Collaborate with school and other staff to design and implement Summer Bridge Program for rising 9 th graders Fiscal Management, Fund Development and Contract Management Collaborate with OKF's Leadership Team to track expenditures and manage budget. Work with OKF's Leadership Team to prepare for site visits and other fund development-related activities Support fund development staff through the development of grant narrative and targeted data reporting. Manage OFCY and OUSD 21 st Century contract development and compliance paperwork Develop Professional Services Agreements for outside contractors and manage sub-contracts as needed. Community Partnership & Direct Service Build relationships with community organizations, Castlemont's Future Center, Work Based Learning Department, counselors and local businesses to create more internship and post-secondary opportunities for youth. Co-lead facilitation and/or coordinate with community partners to lead life skills and financial literacy workshops that include resume writing, application and interviewing processes, professional communication, job-skills, and information about money management, bank accounts, credit cards, etc. Engage students in career readiness activities (both campus based CastleWorks and community based internship placements) to build skills through real-world paid work experiences and hands-on learning Communication Develop and maintain a high level of communication with key stakeholders through regular, strategic communication and attendance at relevant meetings including the Castlemont Administration and Teaching staff, the Community School Manager, the COST team, attendance Team, the OUSD Expanded Learning Office, and other OUSD or organizational partners Establish strong internal marketing of programs to internal stakeholders that is aligned to OKF and Castlemont High School brands through a monthly e-newsletter, emails or social media accounts as needed Develop and maintain positive parent relations through regular, strategic communication about attendance, participation, and events
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
At least four years of full-time work experience in youth development programming and program management. Passion for developing youth leaders and working towards community transformation. Proficiency using Microsoft Office programs, Google products, online file sharing, and database systems Must have at least a high school diploma or GED Minimum of 48 College semester units or passage of the OUSD Instructional Aide examination Ability to lift 20 lbs and engage in physical activities such as active icebreakers Must pass a criminal background check and TB test clearance Reliable transportation to Oakland meetings, events, and school campuses needed
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with schools and work in partnership with administrators, teachers, and community partners. A detail-oriented person with experience in program evaluation and grant compliance. Great communication and writing skills. Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree Preferred for staff to have a valid driver's license, insurance, and access to a car Ability to speak Spanish or Mam in addition to English preferred Experience working in a diverse, high-need, urban environments
COMPENSATION
Position is exempt, full time, and functions on a year-round schedule Salary range for
FY 2026-27
is $92,000 to $94,000 commensurate with experience Paid vacation, sick time off and personal days are accrued per pay period Position offers full benefits including health, vision, and dental insurance with option to add dependents with partial employee coverage of cost.
