Job Description
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Vice President - Program Manager to support our growing West Region Property & Buildings practice, with an emphasis on major clients across California, Mountain Pacific, and other priority western markets. This leadership role will oversee the successful delivery of large-scale, multidisciplinary building programs across sectors including Healthcare, Science & Technology, Commercial, Higher Education, Civic, Industrial, and Federal markets. This role will serve as a senior program leader for major Property & Buildings clients across the West Region, providing executive-level client interface, cross-office delivery coordination, program governance, financial oversight, and strategic account growth for complex, multi-project building programs. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership for complex programs major, multi-project client accounts, comprising multiple projects and project teams, ensuring technical excellence, operational efficiency, risk management, and exceptional client service. This individual will partner closely with business leaders, project managers, technical discipline leaders, and key clients to drive program success while advancing WSP's growth objectives. Your Impact Lead the planning, execution, and performance of large-scale building programs consisting of multiple concurrent projects. Provide strategic oversight of scope, budget, schedule, quality, staffing, risk management, and overall program performance. Serve as a trusted advisor and senior point of contact for executive-level client engagement with key clients and stakeholders. Develop and implement program delivery strategies that support client objectives and business goals. Direct multidisciplinary teams including project managers, architects, engineers, planners, and support staff. Monitor program financial performance, forecasting, resource utilization, and profitability. Identify and mitigate program-level risks and facilitate resolution of complex project challenges. Champion project delivery excellence, quality management, and continuous improvement initiatives. Collaborate with regional and national leadership to support growth strategies and market expansion. Support business development activities including client relationship management, strategic pursuits, proposals, interviews, and capture planning. Ultimately responsible for account growth, pipeline development, strategic pursuits, client planning, and positioning WSP for follow-on work. Mentor and develop project managers and future leaders within the Property & Buildings practice. Promote WSP's culture of safety, inclusion, innovation, and client service excellence. Who You Are Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent professional experience. 12+ years of progressively responsible experience managing large, complex building projects and programs. Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary design and delivery teams. Experience managing significant program budgets, schedules, contracts, and client relationships. Strong understanding of project delivery methodologies, risk management, financial management, and quality assurance. Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders across large, geographically dispersed teams. Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and leadership skills. Ability to travel as needed to support clients and project teams. Preferred Qualifications Professional Engineer (PE), Registered Architect (RA), PMP, CCM, DBIA, or comparable industry credential. Master's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related discipline. Experience overseeing major capital improvement, healthcare, higher education, science & technology, civic, advanced manufacturing, commercial, hospitality, and mission-critical clients in western U.S. markets. Demonstrated success developing and expanding long-term client relationships. Experience leading national or regional programs within a consulting engineering environment.
