A Residential Community Manager manages operations for an apartment community. Responsible for the maintenance and profitability of the apartment community. May provide information about the community to prospective residents, troubleshoot issues with the buildings and community residents. May also review and approve new lease applications, or be responsible for negotiating and closing sales.

PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Unit/Clubhouse Director manages the overall daily operations of the Santa Cruz Clubhouse (California Street), with a focus on: Cultivating a comprehensive, outcome-driven youth development program. Supervising and training staff (direct and indirect reports), and managing site-level personnel issues. Managing the Clubhouse facility, including daily upkeep of premises and program areas, general maintenance, and coordination with the Administrative team on larger maintenance/repair projects. Developing and managing a site-level budget, in coordination with the Area Director and Executive Director. Managing community relationships including actively engaging with and managing volunteers and maintaining positive relationships with parents, club supporters, and other outside groups. Overseeing site-level member enrollment, engagement and data collection.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership and Program Delivery Establish and deliver programs, activities and services that create a positive, outcome-driven Club experience that will prepare youth for success. Ensure a healthy, safe environment, with well-maintained facilities, equipment and supplies. Create a positive Clubhouse environment by recruiting, hiring, managing and providing professional development opportunities for staff and volunteers. Provide consistent mentorship, coaching, encouragement and corrective feedback to Clubhouse staff to ensure delivery of a high-quality youth development program for Club members. Create the weekly staff schedule. Conduct regular weekly or bi-weekly staff meetings and regular staff evaluations of direct reports. Lead Clubhouse staff in the design and delivery of special events and programs as opportunities arise. Provide thoughtful and confident leadership in difficult situations with youth members and families. Provide guidance and intervention as needed. Collaborate with other Site Directors and Area Director on programs, events and services. Strategic Planning Plan, develop, implement and evaluate Clubhouse programs, services and activities to ensure they meet organization-wide objectives and align with member needs and interests. Prepare regular reports reflecting all activities, attendance and participation. Resource Management Effectively manage Clubhouse resources. Assist in the development of the site's annual budget, approve purchase of supplies and equipment, and manage expenditures to stay within approved budget amounts. Develop and/or follow operational systems/policies to maintain the Club's physical property and equipment, including the use of facilities by outside groups. Partnership Development Develop and maintain effective working partnerships with parents, local schools and school staff, community leaders and local organizations. Marketing and Public Relations Develop and maintain public relations to increase the visibility of programs, services and activities within the Club and the community.
RELATIONSHIPS
Internal:
Maintain close, daily contact with Club professional staff to interpret and explain organizational mission, program objectives and standards, discuss issues, and provide/receive information. Regular contact with members as needed to advise, counsel and provide positive behavioral interventions and support (PBIS) .
External:
Maintain contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to publicize the Club and assist in resolving problems as needed.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Four-year degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience. A minimum of five years of work experience in a Boys & Girls Club, school, or similar setting planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people, or equivalent experience. Demonstrated ability in personnel supervision, facilities management, and the recruitment and retention of key personnel. Strong communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to recruit, train, supervise, and motivate staff. Demonstrated ability to foster positive, supportive relationships and engage effectively with youth members, including handling situations that require intervention. Working knowledge of budget preparation and management. Demonstrated ability in working with young people, parents, and community leaders.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds may be required. Ability to work significant hours at a desk. Ability to work extended hours while standing, stooping, and bending. Boys & Girls Clubs can be busy, energetic and noisy environments. The Unit Director is expected to work in situations where many activities take place at the same time.
