Make a difference in the community while putting your communication, problem-solving, and administrative skills to work as a Community Resource Officer with the Chatham County Police Department. This diverse role supports public service and police operations through community engagement, records and administrative responsibilities, preliminary investigations, and connections to vital community resources. Community Resource Officers may be assigned to the Behavioral Health Unit, Criminal Investigations Unit, or Support Services Division (Record Unit). Examples of Duties Under the direction of the Division Commander, you will Provide administrative support to the assigned Division. Perform various non-emergency public service-related functions. Conduct preliminary investigations of non-emergency incidents, prepare incident reports, and conduct follow-up investigations by phone. Perform front desk duties in your assigned division. May develop, prepare, and maintain filing systems, logs, and records. May receive and process daily inventory. May log property and evidence and maintain database information, including generating and distributing reports. Address public concerns by phone, letter, emails, and in person in a timely manner. Use local, state, and national databases, a records management system, and records retention systems daily. Greet and provide information to the public. Assist with research of electronic, digital, and paper records. Process Open Records request in accordance with State law and local ordinances. View video and audio footage of police incidents and accidents. Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with social service agencies, community organizations, and team members. Attend public relations and community engagement events. Provide accurate and reliable reports regarding services rendered and referrals to community resources. Keep immediate supervisor and designated other team members accurately informed concerning work progress. Respond to calls for assistance and access to community resources. May provide non-emergency transport to community resources. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED, and At least two (2) years of experience in customer service, clerical work, office administration, or a related field; or Any equivalent combination of training and experience. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Must successfully complete a requisite number of training hours directly related to the role of the position assigned. Must be 21 years of age and meet the physical/visual requirements. Must not have a felony conviction, pattern of misdemeanor convictions, or repeated traffic violations. Must possess computer and administrative skills. Supplemental Information The successful candidate will have the following: Knowledge of pertinent Federal, State. and local laws and guidelines. Ability to perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities. During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team. In accordance with the Department of Transportation, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) holders and those employed in safety-sensitive positions are subject to random drug testing. Candidates with direct and relevant experience may receive an offer of up to 10% above the minimum salary that is posted, reflecting their exceptional qualifications.
