As our portfolio continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced, highly organized Property Management Bookkeeper to join our team. Position Summary The Property Management Bookkeeper will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting needs of multiple properties and entities. This position will work closely with our property management and leadership teams to ensure financial records are accurate, reconciliations are completed on time, invoices and payments are properly processed, and accounting documentation remains organized and up to date. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience , with strong experience in accounts payable and bank reconciliations . Experience with AppFolio and Microsoft Excel is strongly preferred. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, notices when something does not look right, and follows through until it is resolved. Responsibilities Accounts Payable & Vendor Payments Manage accounts payable for multiple properties and entities Review, code, enter, and process vendor invoices Process checks and other vendor payments Maintain organized vendor invoices, payment records, and supporting documentation Research and resolve invoice and payment discrepancies Work with property managers and vendors to resolve accounting questions Bank Reconciliations & Accounting Complete monthly bank reconciliations for multiple accounts and entities Research and resolve reconciliation discrepancies Maintain accurate accounting records and general ledger information Ensure transactions are properly recorded and categorized Assist with month-end accounting and property-level financial reporting Identify discrepancies or unusual activity and follow through until resolved AppFolio & Property Accounting Maintain accurate financial information within AppFolio Review tenant ledgers, deposits, charges, credits, and adjustments Assist with accounting related to tenant move-ins and move-outs Prepare security deposit refund reports following tenant move-outs Review move-out charges and deductions for accuracy Maintain organized accounting records across multiple properties and entities Reporting & Microsoft Excel Prepare recurring sales and financial reports in Microsoft Excel Organize and maintain accounting schedules and supporting documentation Assist with property-level reporting and financial analysis Track accounting items and outstanding issues to ensure deadlines are met Additional Accounting Support Work closely with property managers and company leadership to answer accounting questions Maintain organized digital accounting files Assist with bookkeeping and accounting projects as needed Help identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, organization, and efficiency Qualifications 5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience required Property management or real estate accounting experience strongly preferred AppFolio experience strongly preferred Strong accounts payable experience Strong bank reconciliation experience Experience with check and payment processing Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel Strong understanding of basic accounting and general ledger principles Experience managing accounting for multiple properties, entities, or bank accounts preferred Excellent attention to detail and accuracy Exceptional organizational and time-management skills Ability to manage multiple deadlines and responsibilities Strong problem-solving skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Organization & Accountability Organization is extremely important in this position. Candidates should be prepared to provide specific examples of how they have successfully managed and organized accounting responsibilities in previous positions, including managing multiple accounts or entities, tracking deadlines, maintaining financial records, and developing processes to keep their work accurate and organized. We are looking for someone who does more than simply enter transactions. The right person will take ownership of the accounting process, recognize when something does not look right, investigate discrepancies, and follow through until issues are resolved.
