Job Description

Youth Mentor Compass Homes Kansas llc Wichita, KS Job Details Part-time | Full-time $19 - $25 an hour 14 hours ago Benefits Paid time off Qualifications Driver's License Adolescents Full Job Description Youth Mentor / Residential Support Specialist (Home Guide) Compass Homes Kansas - Wichita/NW Compass Homes Kansas is building a small, relationship-based home for adolescent boys. We are looking for dependable adults who want to do more than supervise a shift—we want people who can become a consistent, trusted presence in a young person's life. Our Home Guides help create the stability many of our youth have not consistently experienced. This is not a CNA or traditional caregiving position. Our youth are teenagers who need adults who can build relationships, maintain healthy boundaries, stay calm during difficult moments, and help make a house feel like a home.
What the work looks like:
Building genuine, appropriate relationships with teen boys Cooking meals, talking, laughing, and spending ordinary time together Helping with school, employment, appointments, transportation, and daily responsibilities Participating in recreation, sports, outings, and community activities Teaching independent living and problem-solving skills Setting clear boundaries without power struggles or humiliation Remaining calm and regulated when a young person is frustrated, angry, or testing limits Supporting youth through conflict, repair, and accountability Maintaining a safe, predictable and welcoming home environment Completing required documentation and following program and licensing requirements Who we're looking for: You may have experience in juvenile justice, foster care, residential programs, behavioral health, mentoring, coaching, education, security, corrections, community programs—or meaningful lived experience that helps you understand young people who have been through difficult things. A degree is not required. What matters most is maturity, reliability, good judgment, emotional steadiness, and the ability to connect with teenagers while still being the adult in the room.
Applicants must:
Be at least 21 years old Pass required background checks Have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation Be willing to complete required training Be comfortable working with adolescent boys Be able to participate in an active home environment and community activities Be dependable and able to maintain scheduled shifts We are especially interested in people looking for stability and longevity. Relationships are the foundation of our program, and consistency matters. We want staff who are interested in becoming part of the Compass Homes team—not simply picking up another short-term job. Full-time, part-time and PRN opportunities may be available, including evening, overnight and weekend schedules. Cash retention bonuses are available at 90 days, 6 months and 1 year. If you're the adult who can remain calm when things get difficult, hold a boundary without turning it into a battle, and show up again tomorrow exactly like you said you would, we'd like to meet you. Compass Homes Kansas Connection gives direction. Relationships bring us home.
