We are looking for a positive, high energy candidate who believes in our mission and has a passion in making a difference in the lives of youth. The ideal will have a minimum of three
- five years work experience in Boys & Girls Clubs or similar organization; planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of youth, and supervising staff.
The ideal candidate is very organized, has excellent communication skills (verbal & written) and the ability to multi-task.
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Directs and manages the overall daily operations of the assigned Club location. Ensures a safe environment for Club members and staff. Maintains primary responsibility for quality programs, service delivery, staff supervision and training, facilities management, community relations, membership administration, and applicable administrative duties.
KEY ROLES
:
- Establish Club programs, activities, and services that prepare youth for success and create a Club environment that supports achievement of Youth Development Outcomes and Formula for Impact.
- Provide strong leadership in overseeing Club operations.
- Provide guidance to Club members and serve as a positive role model.
- Work with the Director of Operations and SEL staff to support social and emotional learning in the Club.
- Ensure a healthy and safe environment by maintaining facilities, equipment, and supplies.
- Exercise authority in addressing member-related concerns through a trauma-informed lens.
- Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate Club programs, services, and activities to ensure they meet stated objectives and member needs and interests.
- Compile regular reports reflecting Club activities, attendance, and participation.
- Work with the Director of Programs to develop and manage Club budgets and expenditures.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies.
- Communicate regularly with school staff to maintain strong working relationships.
- Supervise Club staff and ensure appropriate training and development.
- Coach staff by modeling effective youth development practices, addressing performance concerns early, recognizing strengths, and creating opportunities for continued learning and leadership growth.
- Serve as the point person for Club volunteers while they are at the Club.
- Develop partnerships with parents, community leaders, and organizations.
- Actively engage in Club member recruitment.
- Maintain active communication with development staff to increase the visibility of programs, services, and activities within the Club and the community.
- Purchase or approve the purchase of supplies and equipment.
- Oversee daily building cleanup.
- Assist with Family Nights and Club-wide programs, which may include occasional weekends.
- Facilitate weekly staff meetings, monthly organizational meetings, and quarterly trainings.
- May be required to drive an organizational vehicle.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
RELATIONSHIPS
Internal:
Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff, including professional staff and volunteers, to interpret and explain the organizational mission, program objectives, and standards; discuss issues; and provide and receive information. Has regular contact with administrative staff.
External:
Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents, and others to promote the success of the Club and organization, assist in resolving conflicts, and publicize the Club.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of five years of experience working with youth in grades 1-12.
- Experience and demonstrated ability in youth development; knowledge of BGCA programs and initiatives preferred.
- Demonstrated ability in personnel supervision and the recruitment and retention of key personnel.
- Experience and demonstrated ability to motivate youth and manage behavioral concerns.
- Experience and demonstrated ability in customer or client service and external communication.
- Ability to develop, plan, and implement quality programs for youth.
- Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with the general public.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and develop solutions to problems with limited supervision.
- Working knowledge of budget preparation, control, and management.
- CPR and First Aid certified, or ability to become certified.
- Valid state driver's license.
