Collects fees or dues, responds to requests or complaints, supervises maintenance, oversees work done by contractors, and provides accounting of income and expenses. May also assist owners or a board of directors with regulatory compliance or compliance with community association rules. Manages the operation of commercial or residential properties. Oversees the collection of rents and payment of bills, taxes and insurance for properties, and provides property owners with reports on finances and the status of properties. Directs leasing operations, or equipment and machinery rentals, for a company or business. Determines charges and prepares rental or lease agreements; supervises inventory, equipment maintenance and recordkeeping for leasing operations.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Property Manager to oversee the daily operations of residential and mixed-use properties in Lansing and Flint, Michigan. This role is responsible for leasing, resident relations, maintenance coordination, financial performance, compliance, and overall property operations. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, customer-focused, and able to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Oversee daily operations of assigned residential and mixed-use properties. Manage leasing activities, including marketing, tours, applications, screening, renewals, and lease execution using AppFolio. Maintain strong occupancy and resident retention through proactive leasing and excellent customer service. Respond to resident concerns, resolve conflicts, and enforce lease terms and company policies. Coordinate maintenance, inspections, contractors, and vendors to ensure properties are well-maintained. Monitor rent collections and work to resolve resident delinquencies. Maintain accurate resident, lease, and property records. Monitor occupancy, financial, maintenance, and operational performance. Ensure compliance with Fair Housing laws, landlord-tenant regulations, and company policies. Prepare reports and communicate property performance and issues to management. Stay current on relevant property management regulations and industry practices. Qualifications 2+ years of property management or related real estate experience preferred. Knowledge of Fair Housing and landlord-tenant laws. Experience with AppFolio or similar property management software preferred. Strong communication, customer service, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills. Highly organized with excellent attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office. Ability to travel between Lansing and Flint properties as needed.
