Job Description

Coordinator of Student Leadership and Residential Engagement Location:
Poplarville Status:
Full-Time (12 month) /
Professional Overview:
The Coordinator of Student Leadership and Residential Engagement fosters a vibrant, creative, and connected campus community through leadership development, student involvement, residential programming, and student engagement initiatives. This position will guide existing and develop new student leadership organizations and governance groups, support student clubs and organizations, coordinate campus programming, and develop residential community experience that enhances student belonging, retention, innovation, and personal growth. Working collaboratively across campus departments, the coordinator plays a key role in cultivating an engaging residential campus experience for a diverse student population of approximately 1,200 students. This position will be required to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive student engagement strategy designed to increase student participation, campus connectedness, personal responsibility, community awareness, and institutional pride. Lead efforts to build a vibrant residential campus culture through student-led events and activities that create meaningful connections between students and the institution. Utilize student engagement data, participation metrics, and student feedback to continuously evaluate and improve programs and services. Advise, lead, and mentor student leaders in planning, budgeting, and executing campus programs and traditions. Assist student groups with event planning, budgeting, marketing, and risk management. Develop initiatives that increase student involvement and campus engagement. Ensure elections for student government and other leadership roles are accessible, fair, and secure. Works closely with Student Housing team for RA selection, training, and residence life programming to enhance the living-learning environment. Develop and facilitate leadership workshops, training, mentorship programs, and student leadership recognition initiatives. Develop and facilitate leadership training and workshops for student group advisors, resident assistants, and head residents. Collaborate with student activities coordinator in managing student programming calendar and addressing gaps and opportunities in events and activities. Serve as the primary advisor for the Student Government Association (SGA), guiding officers in leadership, governance, budgeting, and campus advocacy. Lead communication efforts for students, including marketing and social media outreach. Advise and support recognized student organizations, including oversight of registration, compliance, and organizational development. Encourage collaboration among student groups to foster campus unity and engagement. Design and facilitate leadership development opportunities for students. Assess, develop, and implement first-year and continuing student engagement initiatives that promote retention and success. Continually and actively solicit student feedback via surveys, focus groups, and advocacy to establish measurable outcomes for initiatives and to provide the foundation for data driven planning. Analyze participation, retention, satisfaction, and student experience data. Collaborate with academic and administrative departments in advancing institutional goals related to student engagement and leadership, focusing on retention, persistence, and holistic student growth.
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required
Experience:
The ideal candidate is approachable, tuned in to student needs, intrinsically motivated, high energy with exceptional organizational, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills. Experience with various social media platforms and ability to handle sensitive information with integrity and confidentiality are musts.
