Job Description

Position Purpose:
Performs all other related work as required. Oversees the day-to-day activities of Community Assistance.
Supervision Received:
Works under the general supervision of the Town Administrator. Performs regular duties on own initiative with independence, exercising judgment and tact in answering inquiries and determining correct courses of action, and exercises confidentiality

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains inventory and distribution for the Community Food Pantry. Assists residents in need. Works in coordination with Project Feed the Thousands.
  • Receives community assistance inquiries in person and over the telephone from applicants and other organizations.
  • Accepts applications for community assistance; verifies information; processes eligibility of applicant; determines assistance to be given; processes payment vouchers; and maintains records in accordance with the Town of Hinsdale's Community Assistance Guidelines.
  • Assists Community Assistance applicants when needed, during application process.
  • Reports Community Assistance issues on a timely manner to Town Administrator.
  • Assists coordinating Holiday meal baskets, and gifts for the community.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Knowledge of modem office practices and equipment, including desktop computers and standard office software programs; knowledge of facilities management; knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in custodial and grounds maintenance work; basic knowledge of marketing and public relations. Skill in basic bookkeeping; organizational skills; skill in human relations. Ability to maintain accurate records and files; ability to perform routine custodial work; ability to recognize need for building repairs; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other departments; employees, and the general public.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
High school diploma or equivalent required; experience working with the public; experience working on desktop computers; any equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

HOURS:
Monday - Thursday weekly Additional hours may be required.

17 hours weekly
Pay:
$16,000.00 - $18,000.00 per year
