Program | Central Harlem About the Role We're seeking a bilingual (Spanish/English) Resident Coordinator to join the Resident Services team at aNYCHA PACT
property in Central Harlem. You will provide frontline resident engagement and move support at the Properties, throughout temporary move and construction activity. The Resident Coordinator is the primary day-to-day point of contact between the Property residents and the engagement team — conducting direct outreach, supporting residents through each temporary move cycle, staffing community programming, and keeping accurate records of resident contact and follow-up across a large portfolio of apartments in Central Harlem. This role works under the direct supervision of the Onsite Resident Engagement Manager. About the Property This development is part of NYCHA's PACT (Permanent Affordability Commitment Together) program—comprehensive capital repairs, enhanced property management, and expanded social services. What You'll Do Conduct direct resident outreach — door-knocking, phone calls, texts, and in-person check-ins — to share timely, accurate information about moves, construction activity, and programming. Support residents through each stage of their temporary move: confirming move dates, answering questions, connecting residents to packing and moving resources, and flagging concerns to the Resident Engagement Manager Staff monthly resident programming and community events — setup, check-in, translation support, and breakdown — under the direction of the Resident Engagement Manager Maintain accurate, up-to-date resident contact information and engagement records in the tracking system; log every interaction and outstanding follow up item Serve as a first point of contact for resident questions and concerns onsite; resolve routine issues directly and escalate sensitive or complex situations promptly. Distribute notices, flyers, and move packets to residents; confirm receipt and understanding, particularly ahead of move cycles and major site activity Attend regular team check-ins and provide the Resident Engagement Manager with timely updates on resident sentiment, emerging needs, and operational issues in the field. Other duties as needed to support resident engagement and site operations. What We are Looking For The strongest candidate is a natural relationship-builder who is comfortable knocking on doors, has a high tolerance for a fast-changing site environment, and takes real pride in follow-through. Bilingual in Spanish and English (strongly preferred) - Our residents need someone who can communicate with them in their language. Familiarity with Harlem & Upper Manhattan (strongly preferred) NYCHA and public affordable housing experience (strongly preferred) The strongest candidate is a natural relationship-builder who is comfortable knocking on doors, has a high tolerance for a fast-changing site environment, and takes real pride in follow through. Demonstrated comfort building trust and rapport with residents, including in sensitive or high stress conversations. Highly organized and dependable — able to manage a caseload of resident contacts and follow-up items without things slipping. Comfortable working on your feet for door-knocking, canvassing, and standing for extended periods during events. Strong written and verbal communication across residents, teammates, and partners; comfortable with difficult conversations. Flexible and proactive — able to prioritize and adjust in a fast-moving, hands-on onsite environment.
