Job Description

House Manager — Private Household, One-Year Contract Muse Storytelling, Inc Kettering, OH Job Details Full-time | Contract $50,500 a year 13 hours ago Qualifications Staff supervision Team supervision House cleaning assistance Cooking Driver's License Attention to detail Driving Organizational skills Maintenance management Property management Time management Full Job Description A few weeks ago we finally went out to dinner. First proper evening since the move. Sarah checked her phone before the food came, then again while we were eating. Not because anything was wrong. Because something might be, and she is the only person who would know what to do about it. We moved across the country to be in the same house — him from Portland, her from Chicago with the kids. It is the first time the four of us have lived under one roof, and at the moment we are running this place like a logistics operation instead of living in it. That is the job. One person to own this household for a year, so that we stop being the only two people who know how it works. The kids, the cooking, the groceries, the rhythms of the house, and coordinating whoever else comes in and out — the cleaner, the sitters, the contractors. We do not want to hand you a list, we want to hand you an outcome. Ideally you come to us with the plan, we talk it through as a family, and then you just run it. Our kids are eleven and eight. The older one is neurodivergent and in the middle of a big transition — new school, new house, routines being rebuilt from scratch. That is not a footnote to this job, it is a real part of it, and we would talk it through properly with anyone we are seriously considering. Our eight-year-old is easy and delightful and therefore the one most likely to be overlooked. Noticing her is part of the work. $50,500 for the year, paid monthly, starting with a paid trial period so both sides can find out whether this is right before anyone commits to twelve months. In person in Kettering.
HOW TO APPLY
Answer these three questions in your application. We will not consider one without all three. Groceries run about $1,470 a month. We ask you to cut that by 15% without changing what the kids eat. Working on 4.3 weeks in a month, what is the new weekly budget? Look me up. Patrick Moreau. Tell me one specific thing about my work that is not on my company's homepage, and why it caught your attention. What is the first thing you would want to understand about a family before you started running their household — and why that first?
