Job Summary We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented HUD Assistant Property Manager to join our dynamic property management team. In this vital role, you will support the overall operations of affordable housing communities, ensuring compliance with HUD (U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development) regulations, including Section 8 and LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) programs. Your energetic approach will help foster positive tenant relationships, streamline leasing processes, and uphold the highest standards of property management. Responsibilities Assist in managing daily property operations, including leasing, rent collection, and tenant relations, with a focus on compliance with HUD guidelines and fair housing regulations. Support lease or rental agreement management, ensuring all documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with legal standards. Utilize property management tools such as Yardi and OneSite to maintain accurate data entry, tenant records, and financial reports. Coordinate property maintenance requests and facilities management activities to ensure a safe and well-maintained environment for residents. Communicate effectively with clients and tenants via phone, email, and in person to address inquiries, resolve conflicts, and promote excellent customer service. Assist in budgeting processes by tracking expenses and supporting financial reporting efforts related to property operations. Collaborate with team members to implement conflict management strategies and uphold compliance with landlord-tenant law. Requirements Proven experience with property management software such as Yardi or OneSite; familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) is a plus. Strong knowledge of landlord-tenant law, Fair Housing regulations, LIHTC programs, and Section 8 housing policies. Previous experience in real estate administrative roles or property management companies is highly desirable. Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and client communication abilities. Ability to manage contracts, lease agreements, and rental documentation accurately while maintaining confidentiality. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for data entry, filing, and reporting tasks. Demonstrated conflict management skills along with the ability to negotiate effectively and handle difficult situations diplomatically. Experience in property leasing, sales, or client relationship management will be considered an asset. Office experience supporting property operations or facilities management is preferred.
