Position Summary:
The Development Manager must be passionate about the mission of HIV Alliance and philanthropy and is an experienced leader who will inspire others, including staff, board and volunteers. HIVA currently raises $240k in individual, corporate and event donations and is seeking to increase this goal by 20% in the next 12 months. The Development team is highly collaborative and works together across initiatives including donor engagement and stewardship, events, corporate giving, marketing, website and volunteers. This manager will take a lead role in identifying donor engagement and stewardship and corporate giving. They will work to identify new donors and corporate sponsors and strengthen relationships with existing supporters.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Strategy Collaboratively develop and implement annual plan and strategic initiatives, including regional strategies, that engage supporters, the board, staff and volunteers Work collaboratively to ensure that all Development initiatives have clearly defined outcomes and impact goals and continually evaluate effectiveness Analyze and summarize development data and provide reports and ensure the team stays informed in regard to progress towards development goals Work with Community Engagement manager to ensure agency events are successful Work collaboratively with the Community Engagement Manager to ensure that agency communications are compelling and support development goals Stewardship Build meaningful relationships with supporters and volunteers to strengthen commitment and increase giving Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward prospects and new donors and corporate/business partners Design and implement genuine and compelling donor engagement opportunities Connect supporters to engagement opportunities at HIVA and in the community Represent the agency professionally and treat others with respect in all interactions Engage board members in development strategies and work with ED to ensure accountability Work with the Executive Director to identify, engage, recruit, onboard, and steward new board members, committee members, and other community supporters Administration Stay informed about fundraising best practices and share those with board and staff Maintain accurate donor records and financial tracking Participate in agency planning and strategy activities Ability to work well with others, handle stress appropriately, have reliable attendance Ability to use personal cell phone to run agency phone system software, MFA, etc. Other tasks as assigned, including training/cross-training other staff as needed
Required Qualifications:
TB test (provided at agency) Valid Oregon driver's license, or valid out of state driver's license with the ability to get an Oregon driver's license within 30 days of establishing residency in Oregon, and a driving record sufficient to be covered by agency auto insurance policy. Ability to pass agency criminal background check Two years of relevant experience Skills necessary to build and grow corporate giving (sponsorships, workplace giving, employer matches) and individual giving (major gifts, monthly sustainers, annual appeals) programs Expertise in motivational communication and ability to craft compelling, story-driven messaging and dynamic marketing pieces and public relations narratives Strong leadership skills & ability to set challenging, attainable goals and priorities, to inspire others to high levels of performance, & to leverage ideas into action Experience in effectively prioritizing needs in a complex work environment with multiple and sometimes competing agendas Proven strategic, organizational, planning and analytical skills Excellent financial and computer skills Excellent written and oral communication skills Team player who is self-motivated, high-energy, enthusiastic Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, a professional demeanor, and to represent the organization in a positive manner at all times

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to Repetitively use hands, including grasping, twisting/turning of wrists, and finger dexterity to perform various necessary clerical duties, such as typing and writing. Frequently use arms, such as pushing & pulling to open/close drawers, cabinets, etc. Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time at an assigned station Bend, stand, & reach to be able to transport clients and to lift and carry up to 25 pounds for tasks such as building kits & assembling testing/educational materials. Use continuous clarity of vision at 20 inches or less for processing of paperwork The physical demands described above here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Working Conditions, Travel, and Environment:
The duties of this job require individuals to be able to work in non-traditional and community-based settings. Additionally, the duties of this job include travel to other locations necessary to complete essential job functions, including the ability to transport self to job-related events and locations. This role requires regular reliable attendance, including: Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends Ability to work 5 days per week for a minimum of 40 hours per week Ability to work in loud, crowded, busy, or escalated environments Ability to drive at night and during various weather conditions safely
