One Provisional Appointment Notice This position is classified within the competitive class of the New York State Civil Service system and, as such, is subject to the examination and appointment requirements prescribed by Civil Service Law. Permanent appointment will be contingent upon success in a future civil service examination and subsequent placement on the resulting eligible list. Being reachable on the eligible list does not guarantee permanent appointment. Appointments will be made in accordance with the New York State Civil Service Law, including "Rule-of-Three". Distinguishing Features of the Class The work involves overseeing the program of community wellness within the Erie County Health Department. This is a professional position responsible for planning and operations, setting objectives, establishing and maintaining office policies and procedures and development of strategic direction, goals and plans. The position requires a high degree of independent judgement and complex problem solving in which the incumbent is accountable for overall results of the program. The incumbent works under the general supervision of the Assistant Commissioner of Health. Supervision is exercised over office supervisors, professional and lower-level employees. Does related work as required. Typical Work Activities

• Oversees staff and programs;
• Develops programs and objectives based on community health data and health department priorities;
• Monitors that program goals and objectives are met by analyzing data
• Attends and participates on local boards and committees as well as outreach and community engagement;
• Oversees office's grants, contract monitoring, and reporting;
• Coordinates and supervises the daily activities of a team with support and/or operations focus;
• Establishes policies and procedures, goals and plans of the office;
• Leads daily activities including assigning projects and/or tasks; Minimum Qualifications A.) Possession of a Master's degree
• in Public Health or social work or related human services field and three (3) years of public health experience with at least two (2) years in a supervisory capacity; or: B.) Possession of a Bachelor's degree
• in Public Health or social work or related human services field and five (5) years of public health experience with at least two (2) years in a supervisory capacity; or: C.
