Associate Vice President for Student Health and Wellness Brown University Reporting to the Vice President of Campus Life and Student Services, the Associate Vice President for Student Health and Wellness provides strategic, administrative and clinical leadership for medical and mental health services for students at Brown University. This position will facilitate collaboration among all student health and wellness departments (BWell Health Promotion, Counseling and Psychological Services, Emergency Medical Services, and Student Health Services) to provide high-quality, comprehensive, and collaborative care for a globally diverse student population. This responsibility extends from overseeing, directing, and planning clinical services to managing financial, administrative, and all other functions of the health care delivery system. As a senior leader within the Division of Campus Life, the Associate Vice President will ensure that the work of Student Health and Wellness is fully integrated with and advances the Division's broader strategic priorities—building partnerships across Campus Life and the University to embed student-centered practices that support the goals of the Division and the institution as a whole. The Associate Vice President is responsible for setting and communicating policy for Student Health and Wellness and interpreting the policies set by Brown University. In addition, the Associate Vice President will have expert knowledge concerning the clinical issues facing the college age population and seek to build upon existing integrated models of care based on assessments of physical, psychological, emotional, and environmental needs of students, including those associated with mental health and educational initiatives. The Associate Vice President will prepare and implement strategic planning efforts for student health and wellness to maximize comprehensive counseling, health, and wellness programs, as well as services and facilities. The Associate Vice President will also formulate, implement, and evaluate plans of care utilizing sound clinical judgment, with the goal of providing confidential, compassionate, and culturally responsive care that fulfills the holistic needs of health and well-being of all Brown students. The Associate Vice President provides direct oversight for all departments within the Student Health and Wellness portfolio, including Student Health Services (encompassing nursing, pharmacy, and radiology), Counseling and Psychological Services, BWell Health Promotion (wellness education), and Brown Emergency Medical Services. Collectively, these departments are staffed by approximately 80 employees and 125 student workers who deliver over 34,000 annual patient encounters to a university community of approximately 11,000 students, while managing and coordinating referrals to a broad network of external clinicians. A doctoral degree or terminal clinical credential (e.g., MD, DO, PhD) in a health-related field is required. If MD or DO, current board certification (Internal Medicine, Pediatrics or Family Practice) and licensure (or eligibility) in the state of Rhode Island with updated DEA certificate is required. Experience in a college or university health setting, with a demonstrated understanding of the unique health and wellness needs of a diverse student population, is strongly desired.
